The plot of the remake diverges in several ways that contradicts events in the original two games.

Thanks for the kind words! Hopefully you enjoy the remake just as much (if not more) than the original!

There are no plans to do a remake of the second game due to how the plot of the remake diverges from the original. The remake is its own separate story that will I consider the “canon” timeline going forward.

I don’t really have any plans to do anything else Blackmoon Prophecy related after this is finished. I’m brainstorming my next game (not a fan game), but will be taking a break for a little bit from game dev after this is finished.

As for a release date, June is still possible, but it’ll be tight. Recently had a month long slump where I didn’t get much work done on the game. Late June or early July is what I’m currently expecting.

Don’t worry about crediting individual graphics. Just a general shout-out is more than fine, especially since the game was released 15 years ago.

I’m not sure I understand, what sprites are you asking to credit someone for? Jasmine’s sprite is by Squaresoft themselves, and Oalston’s sprite is just a recolour. Only one you mentioned that is mine is Siegfried’s.

Good catch! I probably wrote that one when I was running on no sleep or something.

Nothing before the final release. My testers and I are plugging away at playing through the game and testing everything. There are only a few main dungeons and some optional content left to finish.

Most likely June!

You shouldn’t need to patch anything unless the font is weird or in-game item icons aren’t correct.

Figured out what caused that, it was the newer version of RPG Maker 2003 on Steam conflicting with a file that had been unofficially patched in an old version years ago that SHOULD be the one that is used. This is the RPG_RT.exe file in the game’s directory. I uploaded it to Itch, all you have to do is download RPG_RT.exe and replace the one the game’s folder with the newly downloaded version.

Currently I don’t think I NEED any additional testers since things are going pretty smoothly, and the game’s quite far along now, but I’ll keep this in mind for sure.

There are two separate downloads here on the Itch page for each game.

What’s up? I can offer them as separate downloads directly from Itch if there’s an issue with Mediafire’s bandwidth or something. I’ll also see if I can compress the download down any further shortly. It’s too big for Itch by maybe a few dozen megabytes, who h is why it’s currently on Mediafire.

Totally optional, but feel free to.

There won’t be a demo, the project is already VERY far along! If you’re familiar with the original, I’m currently a little bit after the point where the entire party splits up ala FF6. Estimated completion date is April/May 2026 ideally. Could be sooner or later by about a month, we’ll see!

General consensus from testers is that it’s a muuuuuch better version of the original! My pace for this always surprises me, and I could see me getting it done around April/May 2026.

Heck yeah! Should be in the first half of 2026, I’d wager in the February to April range somewhere.

No compendium, but you can easily check out all of the card image files in the game’s img directory!

It launches in windowed mode. You can control the resolution with F4 and F5.

Standalone, as it is not a rom and was made in SMBX.

No demo, but progress is rapid! Started work on this in April, and I’m about 40% of the way through the game.

It was actually being remade as an original game at one point, Penumbra Crystallis, but it just wasn’t working out the way I wanted it to. This remake of the original Blackmoon Prophecy uses assets (many sprites and tiles) from Penumbra Crystallis that I didn’t want to put to waste.

With that said, I also have no intention of this not being a fan game. Fan games are lovely and should be encouraged just as much as fan covers, fan art, cosplay, etc. They are all different methods people use to pay homage to the things they love.

Or Tommy Wiseau fans, because this game makes even less sense than The Room.
