I'm not on the Discord, so maybe I'm missing what seems to have other people upset, but this all sounds like a good thing to me? 
Taking years of experience, trial and error and building, and consolidating all that into strong foundation that will be much easier, flexible and ultimately quicker and less stressful to work with sounds like a great leap forward, and it'll be exciting to see what you and the game can achieve when you're not held back by the baggage of past things.
Above all else though, I hope this'll be a change for the better for you personally. While we're obviously all here following the project because of the game, your own physical and mental health should always come first.

Although I haven`t gotten far in testing it yet, it seems to run perfectly fine on Joiplay with the Ren`py addon.
