It's worth clarifying that Itch themselves didn't come after NSFW content, it was their payment processors. Itch was basically forced to either restrict NSFW content or be cut off from banking and lose pretty much all revenue, which would mean shutting the entire site down.

So the real enemy is Visa and MasterCard, not Itch. This has been happening to hundreds of websites all over the internet. There's seemingly a strange unlikely alliance of old school Christian puritanism and stodgy "progressive" activism behind it, but ultimately it's all coming via Mastercard and Visa. It's pretty weird.
