Thanks!
Meloness, our artist, had their hands full with just the cards and enemies as is but if there ever was a fleshed out version of this game I would've loved to have card play effects and proper enemy animations. The tween animations you see were more of a compromise knowing that we wouldn't have the time for actual animations.
Thanks for the review!
We tried to make the earlier waves slow enough that you had some time to figure out what you were doing while also not being too slow for players who already had experience. I think in a perfect world we would've had way to speed up the game play loop but we couldn't quite fit that in within the month.
We probably could've made it clearer that you had to drag the cards to select them, I guess it's good to know for the future.
Was a little unintuitive to start with but you do figure it out fairly quickly.
Adding some control over your builds would've been appreciated, as is it felt like I had to spam the reset as fast as possible in the hopes of getting as many damage and attack boosts as possible. The early rounds also were quite slow to play through and with limited options made it feel like I was missing something.
Still, was an interesting idea and with some polish could be quite fun.
Cool game, big fan of the art style!
I really liked the grapple mechanic, felt smooth and was fun to use. The combat gauntlets were pretty brutal, I don't think I ever managed to dodge an archer's first shot and the melee'ers were super tanky (unless you used the sword but that mostly got me killed). I think the combat overall was pretty close to being fun but it went a little over the line into frustrating territory. Still, a good submission overall, good job!
Thanks! I'll pass on the kinda words about the art.
When designing the level I saw the later areas becoming pretty rage-inducing but didn't know how to fit my ideas in without it becoming a bit too difficult. So I just left all the difficult stuff in :). For what it's worth the original version had about half as many checkpoints in the later half of the game.
And yeah, R key is the best key.
Thanks for the kind words and nice job finishing it! I know the later stages get pretty difficult.
The screen-size being locked was an unfortunate last minute concession because it was midnight locally and we had just realized the menu's scaling had become broken at some point. I thought I just locked the aspect ratio but I guess the size itself was forced...
