Hi All, I've just released my first game, it took me 500 hours and I'm glad to finally share it with everyone. It started off as a submission to an anti-capitalist game jam I took part in on this site last year, and have since taken further to turn into a full game.

I'm happy to talk more about the development process or answer any questions about the game or the jam it was originally made for! I learned a lot from the entire process, especially with making music, sprites, and scripting.

Here's a 30 second trailer. You can visit the game page here on itch.io or on Steam!

God Is Debt community · Created a new topic Bug Reports

Hi, if you encounter a bug please don't hesitate to leave a comment here explaining the issue.

Please specify your hardware specs and operating system version, the exact level(s) which you have encountered the bug, and any other relevant info.

I've done the best I can to fix bugs before release but if you encounter any please accept my apologies, I hope you are able to enjoy the game regardless of the issue you've encountered.

Thanks for playing,
Umaya

Hi, I took part in the jam last year, my game didn't place too highly, but people left nice comments on it (https://umaya.itch.io/god-is-debt). I did follow through with my plan and extend it into a full game which is coming out in April!

I didn't realise it had been a whole year so the notification for this jam was a good kick for me to get it finished. I'm currently doing the finishing touches and, to be honest, am very much wanting to get it done and finished with.

It's listed on Steam (https://store.steampowered.com/app/3972630/God_Is_Debt/) but I'll also put it on itch.io. I'll pass up on this years jam as I'm burned out on game dev, but I wanted to thank everyone for hosting the jam, and motivating me to finally publish something.

I spent 190 hours on the jam over 3 weeks, and the whole game will be done at around 500 hours over 11 months (I definitely slowed down), so if anyone felt like taking a jam game further I'd say go for it.

I like that the mold is such a recurring narrative, it's just like all of my rentals.

I really enjoyed this, it was well paced and also very informative. I made all the wrong choices when shopping and choosing the drink but that in itself was a good lesson.

Really cute and funny style. I appreciate having the English option too.

(1 edit)

I enjoyed this one, and thank you for having an English option. I've had similar experiences with acting during a house viewing to sound more "desirable" as a tenant, they probably wouldn't let me in if I told them what I really thought. Nice artwork and music too.

Really clever shader use for the visuals, along with the music, it really sold the unsettling atmosphere for me.

Thank you, I had a lot of fun with the enemies, I saw them sort of like caricatures of capitalist ideals which allowed for some really goofy designs.

Thank you, the title was one of the first things I settled on, I'm glad you enjoyed playing it, it means a lot.

Thank you, I saw you playing it on twitch, it was really nice to see and gave me some ideas for improvement.

Really nice allegory. I managed to roll for each ending, all poetically tragic in their own way.

I really liked the vibe in this, very surreal.

Many excellent and straightforward arguments here. I really enjoyed the read.

Really cool strategy game, demonstrates revolution in a fun and accessible way.

Really nice story and art style, it makes me want to try sewing my own characters.
