Thanks for the Blackbox fix!  Since I reported the issue originally and it sounds like I found someplace I shouldn't be yet I'll just reload my prior save to avoid any complications.

I did not get a tool yet, no, found it when secret hunting.  If it helps you troubleshoot I can send over the quicksave file.

Wondering if I've found a bug here.  Found a way to Blackbox E, started exploring.  I'm in a segment where there's one-way doors to my north and south (I'm on the wrong side of both).  There's theoretically a tile two west of that north door that looks like I should be able to step onto it, but I can't (either moving straight into it, backing into it, or strafing).  Since the area is warp sealed, not sure what else I can do now, so I quicksaved and quit out.
