Alright, I found the issue (after 3 months, I was busy with personal things). I am working on a fix for it. I recently built myself a new computer that is more powerful so it should be easy to fix. Thanks for reporting the bug. Also, nice PC specs! Did you build that computer yourself?

I thought the title said Mighty Facepalm for a minute lol

I'll do some testing on some of my machines. Can you tell me your system specs of your PC?

Alright, what platform of the game is this?

What did you think of my demo? I spent a while thinking on what this game should be like, and it will be amazing when it is finished.

most things on itch.io are.

If you really want to play windows games on a chromebook most chromebooks can run windows 10. just google 'how to install windows 10 on a chromebook.'

Finally, I can use the side-view battle system I want so much!

I have added versions for Linux and Android. A browser version is in the works, but I am busy with other things so it may take some time.

I think it the .rar is a compressed file. When I open it I get a .exe file, so it seems to be a game for Microsoft Windows. It could, however, be a ROM for a DOS game, as DOS games use .exe as well. Again, it is most likely a Microsoft Windows application. I posted this question in a time I was much less technically knowledgeable then I am now, so I most likely did not recognize the file type. I used to be a Mac OS X user, you see.

Put it in yourself if you want it so bad

YES

You just broke reality...

I have released an update to Helmet Point! The textures for power-ups and the pearls you collect in the game have been changed to better looking versions. The dragon was also changed to a green color.

I can totally hear the retro Final Fantasy feel in these. They specifically remind me of FFV, FFX, and FFIX. Great work.

Is there an RPG Maker MV version?

Maybe give some more description to what the game is on the page, and some indication what  OS the download file is for.

I'm still not entirely sure about what the bug is. Is there a screenshot that you can post?

Thanks, that makes me really happy. I'm glad you liked it!

I have finished the game! You can play it here.

I really had fun developing Helmet Point. It is my first platformer, and it was very fun to learn to pragram all the different mechanics in the game, such as gravity and the dashing. I will continue to make games. Helmet Point was my second major game I have created, the first being a roguelike. A platformer is very different than a roguelike, so it was a new and fun experience.

Have fun playing!

Can you please describe the bug you mentioned in more detail?

You can play the games beta here.

Thanks for putting me in the credits!

Game Title/URL: Helmet Point

Pitch/Information: Helmet Point is a short 3-level platformer.

Sir Lancelot is one of the most valiant knights in the kingdom. However, in one of his many battles, his helmet is enchanted by a witch. The helmet, now blessed with life, decides he is tired of being left out of adventuring and being dismissed as a mere piece of armor. He leaves to explore the world.

I'd like feedback on: Pretty much everything. Is the game fun? Is it too hard or easy? Are there bugs?

If you liked the game, please see some of my other games. You can find them on my profile page here.

Please be aware that this is a beta of the game and may have glitches and bugs. If you find any bugs, please tell me.

Helmet Point will be in the Mid-Jam Playtesting that happens February 4th-5th! Check in the Playtesting Thread on the 4th and 5th for the link to play it!

Please be aware that this version is a beta and may be buggy. If you play the game and find any bugs please tell me in the comments of the game page during the playtesting time.

I like the idea. I have a list of names I have brainstormed:

SEAlert

Subalert

Seaphobia

Seascape

Depthsite

If you don't like these, here is a website that generates great names for games. It generated the one I am using for my jam game, Helmet Point

https://www.fantasynamegenerators.com/video-game-names.php

Wow. The final level I designed is HARD, and the other 2 levels are as well. It seems like this game may be pretty difficult.

I like the idea. Reminds me of some of the dungeon core litrpgs I've read mixed with a dungeon crawler.

The glitch orb in the game glitches out the game-on purpose! Playing a level during the glitch is a challenge, only for the best players.

It's a glitch!

I have the dash mechanic working, and I have the sprites pixel art drawn. I am working on creating the levels. There will be three levels. There is one power up that I have created called the Power Ore. The Power Ore keeps the player character in a dash state for about 5-10 seconds, which is essentially invincibilty. One problem that I have stumbled across is that the background of the 1st level is blue, and the character is blue. This means that it is harder to see the character when they are high up. Luckily, this is not noticeable since the level does not have many high up sections.

Helmet Point

Helmet Point is a small prototype for a larger game idea I plan to create. It is a platformer being developed in PICO-8.

Recently, I was playing Celeste. I really liked the game, but I felt like something was missing. Something that could make it exactly what I thought a perfect platformer was. It involved the dash mechanic. In Celeste, the dash is a sudden burst of energy, throwing Madeline forward. However, there were two things that I was longing to do in the game:

1. Momentum-What if the dash provided more momentum to your character, increasing your speed as well, but making it easier to accidentally run into spikes or enemies?

2. More Space-In Celeste, most of the levels are set in caves of a mountain, or a hotel. These areas provide less space for dashing, and limit the mechanic. What if it was more like Mario, were you are more free to jump?

My plan is to create a game with these changes to the platformer. The game will play like Mario, but you can dash around. Dashing increases momentum, and with enough momentum you can speed around like sonic.

The story of the game is pretty nice: Sir Lancelot, one of the knights of the round table, has been in many battles. In on of these battles Lancelot's helmet was enchanted without his knowledge. His helmet is now sentient, and is very sad about being left out of all of these battles. He is tired of being overlooked as a mere piece of armor, and has decided to go on an adventure of his own.

I hope I can finish a nice prototype and continue and make a full game!

Awesome!

Great, looking forward to it!

Please do an MV version. Please. I would pay for this if it wasn't free. This is the best work I have seen in a while, but I do not own RPG Maker MZ, so I can't use it. Please do and MV version.

I would totally pay for an RPG Maker MV pack like this. Like, RPG Maker MV sprites recreated in this style.

Great, thanks!

I don't have the software needed to open .rar files, so it would be very helpful for me and others if they were in .zip files. This way I don't have to use a file converter or something else to get what I need.

Is the cover art is inspired by Zelda: Breath of the Wild?

Is this a ROM or ROM hack for a console or is it just an application with retro assets?

I don't see it...I have the folders named 1x, 2x, and RPGMAKERMV, and the ReadMe.txt. That's all.
