It's written in the game but pretty hidden. (I got the info from the spring next to the chest across the bridge on the left side of the map) So I agree with you completely to make it more obvious.
To get flowers you need to grow multiple times in a single combat to make them start blooming. If you then grow a few more times in combat it grows larger and yields more pollen.
