i'm really glad to hear you enjoyed it!! ♡
and dw, i'm working my butt of on d2 every day, and it's gonna be packed with a crazy amount of content c:
(btw i will be adding the id&i websites to adna with the release of d2, compensating for the time gap between the two games)
also heads up for streaming- id&i has some rather intense nudity and gore in it! im not sure how that works with youtube but I figured it was worth saying aha. i'm very proud of it, and learned a lot of fancy tricks to make it, so I hope you enjoy it as well!
Hi, yes!! The discord server is probably the best place, and where i'm active the most (+ save community fanart) :D the link is in the game's about page! I currently don't have the BGs available anywhere, but if you ask me for any over Discord (@throwpup) I'll gladly send any u want. I'm also on twitter/X as @throwpup but i don't use it too often cause im just really bad at social media.
D0 has 1 end, D1 has 5 endings, D2 has 5 endings, and the end of the first game has 1 ending with small variations.
however, the end of the whole series itself will include a few routes- one true ending, one dark ending, and one secret ending that's an offshoot from the true ending. if you want to pursue the darker ending, I can share how over discord, but it'll be a while till we get there.
this made me feel sick. the full circle use of the knot we see at start as a metaphor at the end, and nameswapping text was clever. you did a solid job evoking the emotions you were going for; something at the opposite end of what I usually create, which is cool to see fleshed out. i also appreciated how the ending looped back to the start / menu seamlessly. haven't really seem one that smooth since throughout the story you're pavloved into assuming the ripples lead to another scene.
Ad Nauseam is just a super long story (will probably be ~100 hours in total) that needs the length to be told correctly. so it was originally 16 discs long, but since so many people were waiting for the full release to touch it, and because steam has no options for games broken up in chapters, i decided to divide it into four games as a quadrilogy. it's sorta comparable to the Mass Effect series in that way. Each game saves every action you do in a thing called a Dictionary, and the Dictionary is passed on to each next game, so your decisions and progress and romance stuff will carry over from one game to the next! There will be an option each game to start from the beginning of it without carrying over a save from the previous game, while letting you choose the major choices from the past game, but all minor ones and little secrets and options and items can only be passed on by carrying over a save. All four games will use the same renpy save location, so it'll be as simple as finding your last save in the new game, and loading it c:
THANK YOU!! It makes me so happy to hear all the world elements being eaten up and appreciated 4> I try really hard to make sure every corner of the game is stuffed with love c: I spent two years before starting significant work on the game to flesh out the world as much as possible
I'm a good chunk into working on d2 already, and I think the full first game will be out this year! It's only more motivating the more I work on it, and I'm at it every day.
In the meantime, keep your eyes on my account 'cause i'm gonna release a very special spinoff game very soon you're sure to love too :>
There are not, since the number of versions i can make available for download are super limited by my google drive upload space
yes, the art used to be quite different. I photoshopped bgs and sprites by mushing tons of images together like a collage and animated them + cut parallax stuff just as the game has now. it was always my intention to replace it once i got an artist, but I was a solo dev for a good while.
they were def intended for those like you to have a general idea of the amount of content in the game, but I had a ton of people join my server just to ask about getting all of them, and they didnt care about serects outside of them, and were really frustrated about how niche some were when the point was to make runs special and acknowledge niche choices. some were pretty nasty about it. its definitely unfortunate but I think the only way to overcome completionist mentality is to remove them so the only people who see secret scenes are those who search for the mere want to see them; and that way youll know the only people who've seen the ones you've found are others who made the same choices / had the same smart ideas and were rewarded for it. I thought about having a healthcode to turn them on for curious people, but decided not to. it took a lot of consideration before i pulled the plug for sure
hmmm i think not just cause it would eat a lot of time i could spend making even more. i also think a guide / walkthrough might rob someone of later scenes i.e. sometimes only by missing content in a disc can you see certain scenes in future discs c: so i want everyone to have that unique run experience and not feel suboptimal. seeing every major scene is pretty feasible now with a lot of runs (i think you need at least 6 for everything in d0 + 1) but when we get into d2 etc, its going to be a bit of a headache for those trying. i want players to embrace their choices so i put a lot of work into alternate scenes (such as there being 3 different ways to meet piamat after the intro) to make sure nobody who puts time into exploring feels like they're missing out on stuff.
but I do really enjoy people sharing things they found, and i think without a guide we'll see more of it in the community c: it was very lively prior to stamps, so they're going to be removed soon for the same reasons.
Thank you for the extra support, it makes a big difference!! I pour my heart out into this game, so it's always really fulfilling to hear when someone's enjoyed it so much! :D
"this is definitely reaching people and helping them feel seen" - I'm so so so so glad. I really want the game to be a love letter to all those people and a message that they're not alone, even if we may be buried.
I struggled to help my own health for a long time, but now I do it for my girlfriend, and my fans; and it makes it all worth it. Every time I take my antibiotics or have a procedure I think of why I'm still here- everyone who's enjoyed my work. <3
