I found a curious situation. It turns out that failing the objective "Call Meli" leads to the "CV" scene, which then leads to a scene with "Belial" who says he can no longer revive us, so we'll have to keep him. This results in a game over, but instead of taking us to the main screen, it takes us to a scene of Syd's punishment, which is unwinnable. It's not annoying, but it's curious.
