These horny ass witches  and elfs decided to role-play pretending that men don't exist by kicking every single guy out or person that is in the way of disrupting their fantasies, thus they have the town for themselves and get to BOINK arthur

Edit: I think in the beta version of the game, Maeve was supposed to be French or sm since supposedly the last name comes from French ancestry and she spoke a little in the first lines of her dialogue 

I was right on Elena being mentally insane (proved by hatchet on disc) and Elizabeth being freaky later in the story (this update proved it)
