What GPU do you have? I'm wondering if it's something hardware related.

Hey!
Thank you very much for both playing the game and watching the video. I'm glad you enjoyed them both!
The XP and Money bugs you've encountered are definitely strange. They aren't things I've encountered myself when playtesting. I wonder if many others have found this. Does this happen every time, even if you were to close and re-open the game?
I'll keep an eye out for reproducing this during the next update. If I can re-produce it, I'll get it fixed. And for the Jeep audio, I am aware of this. The audio set up for it is a bit simple and so you do get things like repeated sounds upon key press. Something to improve in the future.
Thank you for letting me know about these bugs - I had no idea this was possible.
For your suggestions:
The Dinopedia is very interesting. I actually have a longer term idea which falls generally in line with this kind of thing, so it's cool to see someone suggest this.
Jeep customisation is something which will come at some point. It's not a high priority, but it's something which feels like a natural fit with the game.
The behaviours is a big one. This is definitely going to improve over time and be given plenty of attention. The ecosystem makes up so much foundation for the game so we'll see this be iterated on over time, to include behaviours such as your suggestion.
Co-op/multiplayer has been quite a big suggestion over on YouTube. I can understand why. As you said yourself, you can imagine exploring the world and working together with a friend to take the best photos. However, multiplayer of any kind brings another layer of consideration and complexity to, more or less, the entire project. With how ambitious it already is, I don't see a sustainable way to bring multiplayer into it. I agree with the general desire to see it added, but from a developer point of view, I don't think it's a wise decision.
The game won't be coming to Steam/Epic Games in the next update. The game has a vision and right now it's not close to it. The next update is a step forward, but it's still too far away to be considering Steam releases yet. But for the future, hopefully yes!
For the lighting - it will be changing to support the realism of the world. The lighting will be a key factor in whether the assets look good, or great. But I am aware that realism can take away some of the colour and interest of a scene, so I'll be keeping that balance in mind.
Thank you for your notes and your suggestions. I appreciate you taking the time to share them. And thanks again for playing the game!
Thank you very much for playing the game! I'm glad the game is something you've been wanting to see. It seems like there's a lot who also want to see a Dinosaur game like this come to life, which has been great to see.
Unreal Engine has generally been very good, but in this case, it definitely made things much more challenging unfortunately!
Thank you for taking the time to comment - I appreciate you playing the game!
Thank you very much for sharing your experience with the game! I watched the video and it was really cool and useful to see someone play it.
I kept noticing a few bugs haha, like the Bad Pumpkins which were getting you next to the door - that's a bug. There is some code which should be stopping them from spawning that close (but it's not doing it's job). So it was more challenging than it should have been for that reason.
But congratulations on escaping the farm. It can be quite challenging. Thanks again! Had a lot of fun watching it.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the game, that's awesome to hear!
The gallery crash is interesting. I've not had that issue on my end. I know the more photos you have, the longer it will take to load. I wonder if the game is timing out due to so much loading. Thank you for letting me know about it!
Hey! Thanks for watching the video and then coming over to here - really appreciate it!
Good idea! I'll keep this in mind for next time, thank you!
I'm very sorry you're having performance issues. As I mentioned in the video, this was my big concern with it. So it's a real shame that the performance is forcing you to play on low settings.
If I do revisit this game in the future, getting the performance more reliable will be my priority. Hopefully, it's something you and others in similar situations can play at higher settings one day.
The windows extractor not working is a weird one. I'm assuming it's something to do with the way 7zip archived it. I'll have to keep this in mind as well for next time.
Thank you again for checking it out!
Hey! That's strange. A couple of things you could check:
- Do you have enough hard drive space on the drive you are trying to copy it to?
- What are you trying to extract the files with? I personally use something called 7zip.
- This might sound stupid but it's worth checking the simple things - Did the file fully download?
Let me know how you get on!
I think there may be more going on here. I also have 8gb VRAM and a 12 core processor and my fps is significantly higher on performance mode. 100+ comfortably.
It was a 24 hour challenge so optimisation work was limited, but it's playable; comfortably so for a spec like you are describing. As I say, there may be something more to this such as driver issues, or your pc may have got caught up compiling shaders and you need to restart the game a couple of times (these are just theories).
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Oh I'm sorry your PC is struggling with the game.
With it being only a 10 hour game I unfortunately wasn't able to spend as much time on performance as I would have liked. Having said that, if it's completely unplayable, I might look to do an update on it to try and resolve that issue.
Thanks for commenting!
The initial choppiness/lag is likely due to the shaders compiling - there's no 'load screen' to hide this so it will lag for a few seconds and then settle back down again.
So it sounds like it's crashing during this process. The only thing I can think of is that it's to do with the Windows Surface Pro. I was doing some quick reading and it seems the chip on the Surface Pro is different to your usual pc spec... so maybe it's an issue there. Either in terms of processing power to get past the shader compilation (which is often CPU intensive), or in terms of compatibility.
I am sorry your having issues with launching the game! It doesn't sound like something I can launch a patch for to fix unfortunately though.
