Friendly Reminder to be careful when installing games made by others. Game jams are public and can be targeted by bad actors.

Using a virtual machine, can help neuter/contain many types of malware so it's best to run games made by others on a virtual machine with limited access rather than installing them onto your main desktop environment.

For Game Jams I'd recomend something runnable in browser. Unity, HTML5, javascript etc. Alot of users (and reviewers) aren't comfortable downloading games due to malware concerns so a browser game is more approachable. (FYI please use a virtual machine when installing games made by other people as it can help neuter/contain alot of types of malware)

Try the metroidvania month super edition jam, it's more generic and allows projects at any point in development. (it also lasts 3 months so if you don't finish your project on this jam you can finish it and submit it there.)
