Wow this looks really complicated to run for an itch,io game

(1 edit)

DOES work on Steam Deck, but users need to edit the launch options to "Force the use of a specific Compatability tool" and set it to "Proton: Experimental."

It sucks all the comments on this are self-promotion and yt thumbnails with blatently showing major scare spoilers.

DOES work on Steam Deck, ONLY if you edit the launch options to "Force the use of a specific Compatability tool" and set it to "Proton: Experimental."

The Linux distro does NOT work on Steam Deck, but the Windows version DOES.

To play, get the windows version, add the game to your Steam library as a non-steam game, and then edit the launch options to "Force the use of a specific Compatability tool" and set it to "Proton: Experimental."

Also has an installer that needs to be run the first time playing

Linux version does NOT work on Steam Deck; launching the executible causes the error "execvp: Exec format error."

The Windows version  can launch on Steam Deck, ONLY if you edit the launch options to "Force the use of a specific Compatability tool" and set it to "Proton: Experimental." However, there is no graphics and the game was stuck on a blank white screen.

Also, both downloads have dozens of hidden TEMP files from the Mac OS. Files like .ds_store, and hidden backups of files in the _MACOSX folder. These can only be seen if you enable "show hidden files" on your system, but they add a lot of the file size. As someone who has a Mac for my work and transfers between it and my PC, I know how much of a pain it is to manually remove those, but it's something that should be fixed.

I actually found a workaround. The steam deck is exremely finicky about what does and does not run so its definitely not something you need to apologize for.

After trying to use the option to "Force a specific compatibility layer," I was not able to replicate your results, therefore I won't be changing my comment until I can diagnose another solution

Ironically, the Linux port did not run on the Steam Deck, but the Windows version can

DOES work on Steam Deck, pick the 2022 linux recompile. The first linux version did not launch for me

Edit: as Jaime Gifte and the developer Goofte have both responded to me, only the 2022 recompile works properly
