Thanks a lot for the feedback ! Yes, the gust of wind are a great idea. It's going in for sure :) I agree that speed is underutilized for now. It's like to extend the ramming mechanism. Maybe with levels, if go faster, your ramming becomes more efficient and blows up the ennemy. That could be a powerup to avoid overwhelming the player

And indeed, hazards are a good idea ! I could see a shredder being in some levels :D

Thanks again, really appreciate it !

Nooooooooooooo I lost my long answer, missclick :( :(

First THANK  YOU ! I really appreciate you checking the game, and even more that you came back !! That is a good sign that I have something with this prototype :)

Yes I work long hours :D  I try to keep the daily updates streak alive, and having a demo ready for next fest in October is my goal. But it's super fun ! And reusing old code helps me move faster which is an awesome feeling.

1. YES. I could see the defender, necromancer, healers, fire eaters, water sprite, wind elemental being part of the game. They could be special units, giving them more room for graphical details.

My only worry with the units is that it would eventually need it's own screen to customize your "army". I'm not sure that I want this kind of complexity in game, and I suck at UI/UX.

2. YES too. I think I will eventually need larger maps anyway. The goal is to have A LOT of particles in each swarms. So the current one screen playfield will feel too small eventually. There is a hidden zoom function in the game, but I don't like how the camera feels, so I need to fix that before moving to the larger map.

Maze, why not. I could see them as a nice change of pace every now and then. Currently the obstacles are circles because I don't have a navigation mechanism, but there is a ready made library I could use for this, so it should not be too complicated to add.

3. Yep ! Right now I am still building the fundamentals. Adding an "element" system, that will also give more variety. The next logical step would be to give enemies more personality. Maybe factions, with their own strength and weaknesses. But I am afraid that it would also give me the need for a "customize your army" screen.

4. Yeah the formation sucks a bit today. I haven't addressed it directly, because I think the underlying issue is how the damage is processed, and how much of a bonus you get by locally outnumbering your enemy. I am still tweaking this part. But the idea is to give you a shape that will help you envelop your enemies.

Tooltip, yeah, for sure !!

The intent is to release it on steam, be a 2 to 20 hours experiences, depending on how much you want to dig into it. You might find it odd, but I have been looking at bloons TD, and I think that's a nice balance of immediate fun and depth to achieve.

As for story, that would be a nice addition. Not sure yet honestly, I am still focusing on putting in place systems first (and playing with particle effects)
Again thank you so so much I deeply appreciate !!!

Thanks for the feedback !

Fixed :)

Thank you !! :)

I should have specified that, sorry, it's fixed !

Yes there are currently no saves, I am changing things daily so that would constantly break.

(1 edit)

I had box jump in my head all day

Thanks !! Glad you like it :) I'll add more in the future, and probably palettes effects

Thanks ! The artist for the music is https://www.patreon.com/ben_burnes

Fixed :)

Ho btw there is already a not black background, you might have to go to the options to activate it

Indeed that would be cool !!!!!

Haha yeah I like that idea !

(1 edit)

Fixed (I hope, let me know what you think) for the orbiters and bombers ! https://the-workshop-geek.itch.io/incremental-particles-arena-experimental-do-no...

Working on the rebirth-galaxy-of-perks-thingy this sunday ! :)

That's addressed :)

Thanks, I'll look into that !

Hey thanks for playing and taking the time to write such a detailed feedback I really appreciate !

1. Yep, good idea !

2. Hmmm maybe, but maybe having 1 would b enough

3. Yep indeed ! I could buff the swarm bonus

4. OMG YES. UPGRADES TREES WILL TOTALLY BE IN

5. Yep ! When you have a few they work, but past that they become less useful. I need to rewrite them

6. Yeah I am thinking about having velocity play a role in damage, or maybe knock back particles, which would be easier to visualize

7. Yep !

Thanks again I really appreciate, it's all in the todo list :)

Hey thanks for playing and giving feedback I really appreciate !

Yes the formation needs to be more obvious :)

For the first fight of a tier, you can go back to a previous tier. But I agree it should be more obvious. And maybe the first fight should be intentionally nerfed, that's also an option !

For the respec, that's a good option as well, thanks !

Thanks you :)

I am currently implementing the menus (we need options) but your ideas are in the logs :)

Hooo thanks for the feedback on the hard to tell. I will tweak the colors !
There is no regen for the moment, but having a local majority will help your particles so placement somewhat plays a role.

(1 edit)

It's position based, so having a local majority gives you and advantage. There are also the multi factions fight that pretty much forces you to move

But I am considering adding velocity to the damage equation too.

And maybe zones

Of course this should be explained better

Edit : Also, taking the swarms 1 by 1 gives a big advantage

Thanks for trying it out !

Did I miss this comment ? Thank you !

Ho thanks !! :)

Heyyy thanks !! I'm glad that you like it :)

I post updates more often on the discord if you are interested. But the demo will eventually come to steam too, so no worries if you aren't :)

Heyyyy Nick thanks for giving it another go !!! I really appreciate !

- The difficulty : yes that's a consequence of changing the size of the enemies. I need to tweak the difficulty curve. But I hadn't realized that it was that hard, I'm too used to playing my own game honestly that it seems somewhat easy to me
- Yeeees I need that "Exit :(" button :D Good point !
- Damn red square ! I don't have a windows PC to test it easily that's somewhat convoluted for me to do but I will look into it soon !

Bumping this a bit !
I also would like to get feedback on the page itself. Does the background suck ?

Bumped it to this

So still messing around with it.

From this

To this

Thanks, glad you like it !!! :) It's nice to know it's just not me that prefers this one

(1 edit)

Thanks for the feedback ! You're spot on !
I was with a black background, then I thought about the grid that I have in game, then I was Hoooooooo ! Genesis style !

(3 edits)

Quick background, I commissioned an artist but wasn't too happy with the result (no, the title wasn't a placeholder), and especially the communication.

So I gave myself 1 week to see what I could before commissioning another one.

Which one do you prefer ?

The one with the black background is mine. Any feedback is welcomed, and you can say it's crap if you want :D

Well, I estimate about 2 months, so that will probably be 3 :)
I hope that you have fun !!

(1 edit)

Thanks a lot for your first impressions ! Indeed the yellow on yellow for the player and its shots isn't a great idea.

And the shmup isn't that far off, actually it started life as a galaxian clone. That I promised would be simple and only use a bit of particles

I'll note the idea of adding more details to the enemies ! That sounds like a good idea

Hey !

I am looking for feedback on the work in progress of the capsule I commissioned for my game

My favorite one currently looks like this, but I'm not really sold on it.

If you want to take a look at the game I have of course have an itch page, with a video here https://the-workshop-geek.itch.io/particulitix

But I would be curious to get the feeling you get from this without knowing anything else about the game :)

What do you think ?

So I added a lot of different feedbacks to the lane changing mechanic. That should make it a bit more obvious hopefully
The details are available here https://the-workshop-geek.itch.io/particulitix/devlog/1082980/changing-zones-is-...

Ok I think I get it ! You were expecting something like vampire survivor maybe when the hp bar goes down when you get hit ?
Because here when you get hit there is a big explosion killing all enemies around, the game says ouch, and there is a red flash. So it's I think fairly apparent that you got hit.
Or maybe you mean that the colliding box isn't obvious ?
And yes it tends to have a lot of enemies I agree. Again, thanks for your feedback!

Hello !!

Thanks a lot for your feedback !

Maybe make the hp meter with traditional hearts.

And a bit of explanation the first time you launch the game might not hurt and maybe help wit understanding the lanes. Not sure how to make it visually more impactful.. more particles when you shoot maybe ? More recoil ? Changing the sound could help as well.. I'll think about this

As for the enemies, do you know which ones ? Where they chasing you, too numerous, too much hp, or coming off screen ? I am having a hard time balancing, some find it too hard, others too difficult, I'm counting on the meta-progression to help with that.

Ha cool ! It was a gamejam game project that eventually led to this one :)

Hooo that's so nice, thank you !!

Hey thanks a lot for giving this a try !

But damn that crash is annoying, I will test on a windows machine to see if I can reproduce. And yeah locked mouse, now that you mention if, that seems like one of those "duh, of course !" moment :D
Thanks a lot for the feedback :) Yes gameplay would be awesome, even unedited ! I would love to see someone that is not familiar with the game give it a try.
Yes the enemies become quite beefy quite fast. That's supposed to be offset by the player ramping up as well. But I think there is somewhat of a death spiral, especially for new players, where you do not kill enough enemies, so you don't level up, so you don't kill enough enemies and so on.

Maybe I should be the enemy scaling more to the player level that time that passes. Right now it's like 30/70

Haha :D
