alright, I'll look out for it

I am still confused about the ending that corrupts the files. Apparently i got the bad ending, it was something about getting hacked into?
How do you even get the good ending? finishing all notes?

I was getting stumped on how to finish the scare and eat notes, unsure how to make the meatball edible and whatnot.

As for the English, it is kind of obvious its not your first language. and I had to re-read some lines several times, or think harder than normal about what you meant to say. However, there was never an error so bad that I didn't understand the meaning.  Its a lot of grammar errors, not too many errors with using the wrong words.

Finally, i know how important and appreciated feedback is, so when I play something in-depth like this, I feel I owe it to the developer to give feedback.

Alright, I ran into several issues while playing, and have documented my experience below. To start,  I was interested in this game for the description and wanted to see what other people could do with the ren'py engine.

The first road bump was my own stupidity:

I played through everything I can do without any file modification. Going to all locations, eating all food at the picnic, read the "readme" text file, and I got the pop up that literally tell you exactly where to go to edit files.
However, my problem was that the "database" and "load" files weren't populating. and it was because i wasn't opening the exe file as an administrator. I wasn't doing that because if you open it normally it still starts by saying "loading administrator files". It took me even longer to realize (or read) that you have to press a key during the pop up box to make the "database" and "load" files to appear.

I played through until I got a 'bad ending?" where I had to wait 15 minutes, but afterwards it said that i had corrupt files and had to reinstall which just completely reset all progress. Unsure if this is intentional, or if there was supposed to be some residual files leftover for your next playthrough..

As i am going through the game again, I also am seeing a lot of English grammar errors, I'm assuming your first language isn't English?

Next, I crashed it after getting the friend task completed, image attached.

This is where I ended my playthrough. The only tasks I wasn't able to complete on both playthroughs were the "angry" and "food" tasks. I wasn't able to complete the game, and not knowing how to progress and what exactly I need to do to unlock new scenes is a bit frustrating. I still have several unanswered questions ( No idea what you are supposed to input at the graveyard. Who is the noam character in the database, and how do I get them to spawn? how do you get to the cave? how do you cook the meatball?)

However, overall it is a very intriguing piece of coding work, I know you are working in the ren'py engine, but even though I used the same thing for my game, I have literally no idea how you were doing all these tricks or how complicated the actual script must be. It is a game that will stick with me long after i stop playing and wondering about the possibilities. I think you should release this on steam, honestly. People who liked the file editing part of doki doki would enjoy this.

a new ren'py distribution looks like?
alright cool

I watched it, made a comment on the video. I'm glad it can get this kind of coverage.

Well, I was interested to try out other ren'py games that were entered, and I was kind of surprised by how much choice there is. It feels more like an old point and click adventure games.

I found it easy to get confused, though. I started just clicking through options, like examining everything, trying to interact with everything, and eventually grabbing stuff from the closet basically on accident.

After the father got home the first night, I didn't really understand what I was supposed to do; trying to sleep didn't have any feedback. so I explored more, found the kitchen drawers were unusable, and went to the office. It felt like there was some kind of time-passage mechanic, as I noticed that doing certain actions would brighten the scene, as if the sun was rising? specifically when I was in the office rummaging around. At the same time, though, it seems you have to investigate things multiple times to progress?

Also, I was able to crash it. Got this error while  randomly clicking around, didn't cook anything the first day, then fumbled around at night, finally got into the kitchen and tried the cooking minigame(?) and failed then this happened.

Yeah, post the video when its up. I am always curious how people view the stuff I make and welcome feedback.
especially with one as ambiguous as this.

I tried using this on katawa shoujo, unsure if those files are simply too old or not. However, the error I got was access denied to the file location, since you have to drag and drop the file, not sure how you can get around this.

Finished the game, and I thought it was a nice little story. I liked the art style, it was unique. The music was also nice.

I do have a question about the second ending, denial. Is this ending implying that Katie drowns at sea?

I also found a game-breaking bug that I was able to replicate. if you save the game while the text is still printing out, and then try to load that save, the game soft-locks and needs to be closed.

remind me, where can i watch this, and when is it?

well, glad you liked it.
Hopefully i will have it up on steam as well.

No, nothing sexual in this game.

gonna delete this post for the potential 'spoilers' I guess.
However, your guess was close. You can send me a private message if you want a definite answer.

Um, family safe? I wouldn't recommend children playing it, no. There are no jump scares, But it's a horror game with adult themes.

All the art was made using bing's dallE-3 model

i am curious how people read it, and what they think is happening, or how they think stuff works, because its never explicitly stated.

well first, thanks for playing the game.

So, as i said in the credits, all the art in the game was generated from AI. art and music is about the one thing I have no idea how to do, and can't do myself. I did get some good results from the AI, though by making it all a single style (watercolor).

so, It was a conscious decision to not use first person when talking about the farmer. even though 'you' are controlling him, to some degree. The player knows more than the character, and the options you are given are most likely not what YOU the player would do in the situation. its more like watching a story unfold where you as the player don't really have that much sway on what happens.  it was never meant to be a self-insert

I would have liked to send this over private message or email, but I can't seem to find any contact information.

I saw that this game was made with ren'py, and wanted to look at someone else's work for reference. As I am also using ren'py to submit something for the farmjam. I downloaded and played through the game, and I'm confused about a couple things.

There are stats, and it seems like multiple paths, as there are choices for who you can spend time with, but, at the same time, I have no idea what the stats do, or if the choices make any difference to the ending.

I opened the script.py file, to see if i could just follow the 'flowchart' of choices, and have no idea how this game is coded, none of the dialogue is contained in the script file? I am a novice at the game engine, but I didn't know it was possible to code it in such a way.

As for the plot itself, I feel like i am being dropped into a pre-existing setting, and mostly lost. A lot of the character art I only saw a single time, and am mostly confused as to what the ending is about, or what is even happening. I did read the brief 'dev commentary' at the end, but it didn't really clear up my confusion.

Thanks for any answers.
