Hey, thanks for the thorough playthrough and honest feedback — genuinely appreciated! You’re right that there is a disconnect between the gameplay and the final art, and perhaps I’m to blame for that. This is one of the areas we need to tighten. As for the question of why to hide, I’d like to gently point you towards the audio a bit. There’s more going on in the soundscape than the music and your own footsteps. Might be worth a second listen with the tracks off, especially after the battery dies out. Appreciate you sticking it out to the end!

Hi, thanks for playing the game! I agree that the music could have been more era-accurate, but I had to mostly use re-use old compositions from a friend because of a tight schedule.

Thanks a lot for playing!

We are artists, we ought to be civil. This ain’t Hollywood lmao.

I agree! See you on the livechat!

I understand where you’re coming from. I’m not pushing for Linux support, but since I am a participant in this jam, I thought it would be a good sport to play and rate all the entries. The ones I could not get working on my machine, I kinda feel a need to mention so that they aren’t left out.

Unfortunately couldn’t play this on my Linux PC. All the best for the jam!

Absolutely nails the Resident Evil/Silent Hill vibe! Reminds me somewhat of Cry of Fear. Great game!

Unfortunately could not play this on my Linux PC due to a Wine quirk that botches all Unreal Engine games. I wish you all the best in the jam!

Unfortunately could not play this on my Linux PC (not supported by Wine).

Absolute beauty. Enjoyed playing this. Spotting the entity gets a bit repetitive though - having the entity around a bit rarer would be great. Nevertheless, a great game that nails the PS1 vibe.

Excellent. The music’s excellent. The vibe is excellent. The gameplay slaps. An absolute gem. 100% would recommend.

A surreal nightmare from the PS1 era. I knew something was wrong the moment the box screamed at me when I dropped it accidentally. Great work!

A great game. Truly an arcade gem. Not sure how this fits the themes of PSX horror jam, but great work.

Isn’t this just gameplay footage of Bulut ULU’s Iblis 3? There’s nothing the player can do, and this is clearly a case of plagiarism.

The controls (especially the lookaround) is old and janky, but the visuals are exceptional. Had a great time.

Very low effort, buggy entry. Seems AI generated, there’s nothing to do for 5 whole minutes but roam around this very small map collecting bullets that are of no use other than the occasional rocket jumping (that, for some reason, you need to climb stairs??) The eye at the end of the 5-minute mark does not scare.

Indeed UPI would be very useful especially for developers who may not always have PayPal or credit cards, and thus cannot accept payments at all.

Hermitage Demo is now out on Itch.io! Hermitage is a first-person survival-horror game about grief, set in the rain-drowned forests of Jharkhand, India — where every day you survive deforms you a little further.

Stay tuned for more.
