I appreciate your honest feedback. It's totally fair and I understand your frustration. Most people didn't seem to mind but I did get some feedback like yours after the initial release. I don't wanna go too much into technical details but while later versions of the RPG-Maker have a build in sprint option at default, older versions (like the one I used) did not have that. And instead of writing a new script to have that option in the game I decided to go the same route as the RPG-Maker games that I enjoyed myself and chose the same walking speed you have in those games. That being said the game ended up larger and with more exploration than I thought at the beginning so I get why some people find it frustrating. I did not add a sprint option in later versions because the game expects the character to have that certain speed and adding a new mechanic would require quite a lot of work... and time. And I'm simply not willing to spend even more months on a project that I offer for free and already took me way too many years to finish. Just to give you an explaination of why it's still the way it is even if some people already mentioned that. But I'm glad you were able to enjoy most of the game!
And I assure you if I ever make another one, I would go in a quite different direction and allow players to customize their playstyle.
(Including sprinting.) Thank you for taking the time to play it and leaving your thoughts!

I don't understand how most didn't seem to have that issue before (or didn't report it) and suddenly it happens to several people.
Anyway - I guess I'll keep the unpacked version public for now.

Yea I've read a few websites about that error, too. But it seems to appear rather random and there isn't really a fix that works for everyone. Very unfortunate.
Let's try this if you're willing to: I've uploaded a version of the game that is not boxed by the Enigma program. So you have to scroll all the way down in the game folder to the RPG_RT.exe in order to play. Maybe you can avoid the error with that. [LINK EDITED OUT]
Though I don't think I have encountered this specific error before, I know that some people had issues to start the game because their antivirus software on newer systems blocked it (the game.exe itself is the entire game files folder packed with Enigma Virtual Box which seems to cause that issue for some). Maybe try to add the game to the antivirus exclusion/whitelist. Or try to run it in compatibility mode for: Windows XP if that first step doesn't fix it.
I'm always very grateful to read that people could connect with the game and it's themes so thank you so much for your comment! I'm not planning to do any translation to other languages because I've spend enough time working on this game already. Would have to be done by someone other than me but I'm not ready to hand it over to somebody else yet either. Maybe sometime in the future. But I feel honored by your offer, thank you! Feel free to drop the link to your playthrough on YouTube!
What you experienced is not an issue or a bug, the game changes with your decisions. (As stated in the beginning.) That includes where you go first when starting the game. So there are areas you won't be able to visit at all in your first playthrough. Might be confusing at first but for one thing I wanted to increase the replayability and second I thought it was interesting if everyone had a slightly different experience with this game.
Well okay... no idea what happened in your playthrough but I had no issues saving in the cafe.
Anyway, this is your save file inside the cafe after the sequence with Ivie. https://cherryshare.at/f/gKPuEp
I'm gonna take the link down once you have it.
I did find another issue though that is fixed in the latest version but still present in yours.
There is one last save room in a big area (if you played all the way to the wire room you'll know which one)
and if you enter it from a specific spot in a dark hallway, it won't let you save your game even if you light
the candle. Maybe that happened to you? If it does, try to enter the save room from a different spot (just one step below or
from the opposite hallway) and you should be able to save again. As I said, it should be fixed in the new version.
I hope you'll enjoy that last part of the game!
Hey, you are not the first one to experience that issue unfortunately. I think I'm going to put a few safety switches in there that hopefully prevent that from happening. In order for you to continue I need you to upload your save file though and send me the download link because I have to fix that manually. (cherryshare.at for example) After that I'm gonna send it back to you and hopefully you'll be able to play to the end without further issues. (Crazy you made it that far without saving! :D)
Sorry for the inconvenience!
Thank you so much! In a way I'm actually happy that I managed to make you emotional with my story. To be fair - the bonus room is quite difficult to find, maybe I should have placed it somewhere at the beginning. Let's say you can find it in the second half of the game and it's a door that was there before but couldn't be opened. It's nothing absolutely crazy in there though, just a tiny reward for those wo decided to play the game again.
Thank you for your patience! So even though I do get why this happened to you, I still have
no idea how this happened in the first place. Seems like the RPG-Maker still has a mind of it's own or I'm just missing something.
Might have to check that again eventually. But anyway, I've used your savefile to get past this issue and saved after the
sequence in the cafe. So if you want you can continue with this one right here:

(Will delete this once you have it.) Sorry for the inconvenience and I hope you have enjoyed the game so far!
Thank you for the feedback though it is rather unfortunate.
I've "packed" the entire game folder into the game.exe using "Enigma Virtual Box" so random
people wouldn't be able to edit the game itself so easily (which happened before sadly).
But that seems to cause some issues with said anti virus programs.
Yea, I'm not happy about this either.
If you have access to the room with the writing on the wall and the "don't let ..."-note, you should have a crowbar already which means you're not doing anything wrong or are missing something. You just went a different path. (So you're technically in section 2 now.) There is no "standard" way to play the game, it's changing by your choices, where you go etc. So you can't see everything in just one playthrough. I guess next you'll have some puzzle work to do. I hope I was able to clear things up for you a little bit. :-)
I can't really tell you since I don't know what you did so far. Are you sure you've read the right note? (There are 2 readable sheets of paper in said office and there is pretty much no way to miss the cutscene.) If it doesn't work, you could also start a new game and (*spoilers*) head straight to the cellar to bypass that area from before.
Well that's annoying. This seems to happen rather randomly to a few people, I thought that I caught all the possible error sources. I'm sorry you had to experience that. I've fixed it and updated the download link. So if you download the new version you can use your savegames from the previous one to continue. Let me know if you run into any other errors. Sorry for the inconvenience!
