The gameplay is cool but holy dude, the game just feels so unfair no matter what.  You want a cool upgrade?  The downside will immediately make that upgrade not fun.  You want to jump? Hah, you missed and fell, instant game over :P! It literally is just "Which downside wont instantly end my run" for most upgrades.
