I think it's a pretty intriguing start.  But like the other guy mentioned, the buttons are very difficult to read, with the low contrast between black and dark grey.

Do a two-finger tap.  That will do a backspace on text-entry screens, and is also how you bring up the menu to access your status, items, etc.
