Thanks so much for the thoughtful feedback. Fixing the spikes was a priority for us and we already fixed it. It no longer uses the full square as the collision mask (it was using the default tilemap collision mask), which wasn't fair because the spikes come to a point. So, we made the spikes a separate sprite and created a custom collision mask for them. These new collision boxes follow shape of the spike and are actually smaller and more forgiving.

The actual level is being redesigned. Since we rushed to get it out for the game jam, we didn't spend any time testing the balance. The new levels will be more balanced, with difficulty that ramps up gradually. We will also implement checkpoints to reward players for their progress.

As for the controls, we are adding more ways of playing, including mobile controls. But we will be adding more keyboard configurations that align we standard practices.

We aren't sure why the music volume is doing up and down. We didn't experience this, but I'll look into it. Could you elaborate a bit more on this issue? Did you notice a difference in volume between the intro, stage and ending music or was the stage music on its own fluctuating in volume? Also, thanks for the suggestion of keeping some forward momentum when letting go of the jetpack button. We'll keep that in mind.

Thanks again for playing our game and for your suggestions. We really appreciate it!

Thanks for playing our game! We appreciate the kind words!

Nice job! It's a funny concept and it looks good. I like how you created a well thoughout menu system too. Are you going to keep working on it or was this just for the jam?

Great job with the games's atmosphere! The artwork and music really bring it to life, The game plays well. I like that you added mobile controls too. It may just be me, but I felt the camera was zoomed in too much. The player and level seemed large on my screen.

Thanks! We are adding mobile controls in the next update.

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback! We fixed the collision maps for the spikes and are now evaluating ways to balance the difficulty. Check points seem to be the most requested feature so far. In regard to a score, we intially wanted to add a height score but ran out of time. Although we are now considering a score influenced not only by height but by defeating enemies as well.

We are currently working on the game and we'll address many of this issues in the next update. Thanks again for playing our game!

I love the chunky pixel art! Reminds me of Pico-8 games. I would tweak the controls a bit and get it dialed in. Hope you keep working on your game. It has a lot of potential.

Great job! The visuals are nice and the levels are well made. I can tell the original Super Mario Bros was an inspiration for you. My only suggestion would be to replace the music with chiptunes to better fit the graphics but that's my personal taste. Keep up the good work!

I also like the play on words for your title.

Thanks for the feedback! The difficulty will be better balanced in the next update. We are looking at adding a health bar, a checkpoint system, or a combo of the two.

Nice artwork and music. I like the idea of climbing rocks and jumping platforms. That's pretty unique. The actual climbing of the rocks was a difficult because at the top, the character would stutter a bit. It's a pretty common issue when using ladders. But I'm sure it's something you can fix with more time.

Nice concept. I like the idea of building a rocket and it fits the theme well. Nice job with the parallax backgrounds and I like how the screen shakes when you are falling down. My only suggestion would be to give some indication of what the parts do. I just threw it all on the rocket and launched. But overall, you did a good job!

Excellent work! The pixel art and animation are really good. The level also looks really nice. The game play is very fluid as well. It's a bit on the difficult side, but I can appreciate that.

Thanks for playing our game! The difficulty isn't well balanced in this preview release, and we are working on addressing that in our next update.

We would love some feedback. We are currently working to make this into a complete game. Feel free to leave anything you like and didn't like. Thanks!

Great visuals and atmosphere! I got Hollow Knight vibes. I like how the player faces wherever the mouse is aiming. It can create some cool gameplay mechanics. As a suggestion, the feedback when hitting an enemy is a bit off.  Might be the fact they move back quickly or a collision box issue. No biggie and I'm sure you can fix it after the game. Keep up the good work!

I like the character and the colors in your game. The game controls well. I appreciate the encouragement message you added to keep the player going. Nice touch! As a suggestion, zoom out the camera a bit.

Nice job! The visuals look really nice. The theme is cool too. Sometimes the player would get kind of stuck on platforms. Might have to tweak your collisions.

Great job! I love the classic NES box art. The game played well and was challenging at times. Good job balancing the difficulty. I also like how you created the temporary safety bar when the player dies. The flashing effect on the bar was nice too. It's a clear visual cue that the bar is about to disappear.

I played it yesterday and left a rating.

I like the artwork for the frog. I appreciate the preview arrow of where the frog will jump as well. I did find it a bit hard to get up on the first platform. Maybe you could space the platforms out a bit more. You might want to tweak the gravity a bit, so that he "floats" a bit more.  But nice job!

Thanks for the kind words!

Thanks for playing our game! We appreciate the rating.

Very creative. We are the AI in the game, and we have to stop the player. Simple but unique concept. Good job!

Thanks! Glad you liked it!

Thanks! Glad you liked the game. Feel free to leave us a rating, we really appreciate it.

Thanks for trying out game. Glad you liked it. We are adding touch controls in our next update. Our goal is to turn this into a full game, with more enemies, levels, etc.

Nice twist on the Asteroids formula! I like the game. The visuals were clean. Shooting asteroids caused a cool repel effect too. As a suggestion, I would change the jetpack sound effect. But overall, it's a good game.

Thanks! Appreciate the kind words. We are turning out project into a full game.

Thanks for playing out game! Glad you liked it.

Nice artwork! I love the feel and tone of this game.  The enemies are definitely hard, especially at the beginning. My poor town keeps getting wrecked. But I know you probably ran out of time to balance it all. One suggestion, when the enemies attack the town, clicking on them also clicks the build squares. May you can keep them separated. But great job! The game has a lot of potential.

I like the concept, but I felt the player moved too slow and the enemies were a lot faster. It made it very difficult to survive over 10 seconds. As a suggestion, speed up the player, slow down a bit the enemies, and change the game over music. It was very loud and didn't fit your game in my opinion.

I understand. The game definitely has potential, but I know sometimes we just want to try a fresh new idea. I'm sure whatever you decide to do will be cool.

Great job! The evolution of the player is a nice feature, especially since it wasn't just cosmetic. You added abilities to each evolution. The visuals are nice too. Are you going to keep working on it after the jam?

Great job thinking outside the box. The ability to set a number of platforms turns this into a puzzle platformer game. A suggestion, perhaps change the color of the player box so it doesn't match the level platforms, and then have each platform the player sets be a different shade of that color. That would give the player instant feedback when they have reached their limit.  This game has potential. You could work on the sprites a bit and take the whole game up a notch. Keep up the good work!

I'm getting Splinter Cell vibes with this one. Great job implementing multi-directional aiming. I like the sprite work, the animations look good, and the music was nice.  The sound effects are a bit loud and harsh, similar to older Atari games. But that's just my personal opinion. One thing you can add in a future update is to allow the player to shoot the lights and turn them off.  Great job!

Excellent submission! The music and the way the player flops around are hilarious. At first, I was a bit confused of what to do. But then I realized that after a boost, you have to press the corresponding key to grab with that limb. This is one of the most original entries. Well done!

This is awesome! Love the pixel art and music. The levels are well designed too.

Great job! I've seen a few entries that use the drag and release jump mechanic, but you are the first to add an arc that previews the jump. Plus, you zoom out when the player is setting up a jump. Those are excellent quality of life improvements. Love the little dialogue from the characters. Also, bonus points for including the Donkey Kong Country style barrels. With time you could improve the visuals of the level a bit. But my biggest suggestion would be to add music and sound. That would improve your game significantly. Hope you keep improving the game!

I love games that don't hold my hand and encourage exploration. At first, I thought it was impossible to get through the area but then I tried going left and a whole new area opened up. I was able to get what I needed and returned to beat the game. The artwork is great and the music fits the icy cave really well.

A couple of suggestions:

1) Add animation to the player, even moving the entire sprite one pixel up and one pixel down will give him more life, and it will complement the foot sound effects.

2) Add the ability to play in full screen.

You definitely have a knack for level design, and I hope you keep making games!
