If there would be enough demand in terms of support (financial one as well), with more "manpower" as contractors the development of the text game could also be resumed, but currently there's not enough to make that happen.

I think I have discovered the issue, I will update the builds in the post.

Ok, but was the error showing up when you were trying to open the zip file or after you extracted the files from the zip?

MacOS is a bit of a mess for games lately. If you don't mind, could you tell me what you tried to do to make the game work? Did you extract the .zip before you tried to run the app inside the MacOS folder?

Can you try these instructions and let me know? Apologies for the inconvenience.

1) Open the Terminal app.

2) Copy and paste this command into Terminal: chmod -R 755

3) Then drag the Malevolent Planet icon into Terminal. When you release the mouse button, the path to Malevolent Planet appears in Terminal

4) Press return.

5) Malevolent Planet will now run properly when you double click the icon

Hey! are you on Intel or apple chip?

So the public build has these platforms:

  • Windows
  • MacOS
  • WebGL
  • Android

The patron build also has the same platforms. Wait, what apk are you referring to? It appears by accident I left a previous apk downloadable, but it's not supposed to be there so I disabled downloading for it. Now only the part 1 will be seen for the android platform.

All the platforms at the time were part one.

That's pretty strange, I just gave it a try and it loaded successfully. Did you get some kind of warning if you want to extract or run this file the first time? Maybe it didn't extract something that could've led to the logo freezing.

No worries, your english is great! Thanks for the nice feedback on my game. Yes, the art wasn't done by anyone else.

The issue you mention about the art matching with the main character's hair color, I'm aware of it, but it couldn't be done.

Right now I'm developing the 2D version of this game, because I wanted to give 2D a try and the codebase of the text game was very big. Give it a try if you want https://sugarmint.itch.io/malevolent-planet-unity

Hmm that explains it, I'll have to try to save and see if it serializes the score. Thanks for checking it out again :)

No, I frequently ask patrons/people to send me their wishes/desires to see a new release for the text game but I rarely get them so I am trying to continue on with the 2D game's development because it appears to get more reach and the 2 games can cross market each other due to different audiences (text game players, 2d game players) groups that don't conjoin very much.

Well then it's very strange indeed. If you'll ever replay that sequence, if it's not too much of a bother can record a video. There's only one last possibility, if you saved and reloaded during the minigame and it didn't save the "happy" patients score.

Do you remember a guy who told you he'd guarantee you a good score/ending if you did him a favor? Do you remember what choice you made there?

Different faces would be very difficult indeed. In the text game, we had customization for body type (curvy, slender, etc), skin colors, hair colors, eye colors, and some people found it jarring when scenes wouldn't have their custom character so that was the issue. Probably for a 3d game it's a bit easier... Hair colors and hairstyles aren't that difficult and they're not that jarring, eye color can be a candidate as well but anything beyond is a bit difficult.

I was doing some testing now and I picked most of the favorable choices and it led me to this. When you succeeded in the rounds, did Morris congratulate you or did he seem tired?

If it was ever possible, what kind of customization would you like to see? Hair colors, hairstyles?

Yes, there's no way to download saves on the browser version because they're saved in the local storage in the browser and it's a bit messy. I'd try in the future to make it possible to import/export saves in WebGL.

I'll check it out and see if everyone's happy if I still reach the bad ending, thanks for the report :)

Sorry for the delay, I was on vacation. The standards for getting a high score are pretty high I remember, you need to not really make any mistakes. If you want, can drop me a save right before you talk to Morris and I can check what the score was.

No, it's very difficult to account for customization in scenes sadly.

With the Shar'nul fight, you have to pick a bunch of correct choices in order to bring it down. I think the fight was meant to be slightly punishing, so you may need a few tries to win it >.> The choices you picked before the fight matter too

Hey :) The next release has a macOS build https://sugarmint.itch.io/malevolent-planet-2d-risque-search-august-2023-patreon...

No, there are many drawings in the center. I'm not exactly sure why yours is not showing up properly. Have you tried in Chrome?

Did you ever get to the combat system part? That's where images are supposed to show up on the right, or when interacting with some NPCs.

The brown hair girl is still in early access, there'll be a public build with that in about 3 months I think. There are plenty of reasons for this, including the fact that WebGL is a bit buggier.

Can you take a screenshot of what it looks like for you?

Did you play the latest build? There's a lesbian scene in the ending of this build's content.

The style is very minimalist and does its job at drawing attention to the focal point, the text. I hope we'll see more short stories from this Cyrus, maybe even one made in a visual novel format! ☺️

Great work! I'm not one for poems, but this was actually a rarity because I liked it.

Yeah, bugs like this are the worst and you can probably see why. It's definitely possible that an older save broke it because there have been some changes in the first few minutes of the gameplay.

No, it's not too much effort. I can do it for the next release and I'll let you know :)

Oops, sorry, I didn't have previous requests to make a Mac build😅

I have just installed the mac build tools for Unity. Would you like me to remind you on the next release that there'll be a mac version as well? I'm not sure I can do anything about it now because my local codebase is a bit ahead of what's in this build so things may not work as expected.
If you did pay for this however, I will have to release a mac build regardless right now so let me know :)

Sure, can you also tell me if you experienced the bug with the doctors' office from an older save or was it a fresh playthrough?

That's where the content for this build ends. My apologies for not making that clear. If you'd like to keep up to date with my builds and not have to buy them individually on itch feel free to check out my Patreon :) https://www.patreon.com/sugarmint

Hey! Sorry for any inconveniences caused by that. So, you had finished the third day of training correct? With the simulation room content and the machine content in the basement.

Hey, Nashina! Yes, the bugs are a plague. It's a lot for a solo dev to handle, especially when you're dealing with a difficult financial situation so I'm trying my best.

Hello. Issues like this are why the text game is on a bit of a hiatus right now. If there was support from patrons to focus on an update for the text game with a bunch of bugfixes and minor content, I could do that, but right now my focus is on progressing with the 2D game's content.

Are you able to consistently reproduce these issues, outside of the stats not being saved? The stats are likely fixed in a build that's right now only for patrons, but not sure about the fights.

Amazing demo! excited for the future of Erokin

The 2D game can't be played locally as a HTML file without launching a local webserver. https://forum.unity.com/threads/how-to-manually-start-a-localhost-version-of-web...

There's an APK in the attachments isn't there? No need for joiplay.

If by existing story you mean the text game, there are already graphics there including scenes and so on but it got too difficult to maintain as a single developer because it's written in JavaScript and a ton of testing is involved to fix some annoying bugs. However, there'll be an update to the text game sooner or later.

Yes, sooner or later.
