We actually had planned to give the crickets multiple variations like speed boost or temporary invisibility , but that's the thing with game jams, you cant implement everything :

Great concept, a bit slow like others mentioned. Was very fun to play, especially at the beginning when you have a lot of upgrade possibilities.
