There is a requirement for a controller both in the More Information tab as well as in the download instructions that specify that a controller is needed.
Hey there! I have had a friend playing it with a non Xbox controller today, and said it was working fine as well, so you can definitely give it a shot! I wasn't completely sure if it would work with any other controller since I didn't have any other controller to test it with.
