This is normal because I bit off more than I could chew with the dynamic character sizes.

That's strange. Which extractors did you use? I can't replicate the issue because I don't have a Mac, but 7Zip worked for me on Windows.

I'm actually working on a sequel over at my Patreon (patreon.com/stationmaster). It doesn't have a more cartoony design, but it does generally look better. It does have mod support for text mods, but for anything else, I would recommend using MelonLoader.

Sorry about the delay. I would try re-downloading or opening in a different application (7-Zip worked for me when I tested it).

That's a known bug. I probably should have removed them, but didn't get around to it.

Hey!
Sorry for the extremely late reply. I'm embarrassed to say that I slightly forgot Itch.IO existed. In general Patreon or Discord is probably going to be a faster way to contact me.
The $1 Patreon level just gives access to patron-only images (any time I post an NSFW screenshot that Patreon won't let me show to everyone).
Stationmaster and Exalted are both available for Patreon supporters, though development on Exalted is mostly paused because I pivoted to Stationmaster 2.
The public build is pretty old, and there have been a lot of new features and improvements since then. I don't know exactly which ones, but the difference should be considerable.

You should be able to use the link at https://stationmasterdev.itch.io/stationmaster/patreon-access to get access to the build with your Patreon account.

Unfortunately, it's an artifact of a lot of bad decisions made early on, and probably can't be fixed without a colossal amount of time.

I might do a remaster or something, but it won't be for a long time.

Interesting. I've never seen this one before. Thanks for including the output log! That's super helpful.

I'll preface everything else by saying that I'm not sure if this can be fixed, and I'd be happy to issue a refund if you're not interested in debugging (or if debugging steps fail).

This appears to be a rare Unity issue that affects a ton of games on specific machines (it seems to be correlated with AMD processors, but there's not a whole lot of information beyond developers complaining about it on the Unity forums). So far, it seems like the following things can resolve it:

Running on a different machine if there's one available (the issue appears to only happen with very specific system builds, and a different machine will probably be fine).

Update your graphics drivers and BIOS.

Make sure you have enough memory (I recommend at least 4GB. Closing other programs might help with that too).

Check your hard drive for SMART errors, and, if you're using it for swap space, try using a different one.

The best solution, updating the engine version, is unfortunately not an option because I'm using a bunch of packages that won't survive. I tried pulling the character library into a more recent version of Unity for my next game and it broke in some truly terrifying ways.

Thanks for the report. I'm planning on doing another update once Quid Pro Quo is in alpha, though I'm not sure exactly what bugs I'll be able to fix. That one in particular is stubborn.

I'm not sure exactly why, but Itch.io seems to have compressed this game in a way that causes strange issues with some unzipping programs. If you're having trouble (either an unzipping program saying that resources can't be extracted or strange corruption in-game), please use 7-Zip to extract the data.

Hey all,

This game has been on Patreon for a couple years now, and I'm indescribably excited (and honestly terrified) to say that is finally done! I'll be around for questions or comments, and feel free to join the Discord here! I also have a Patreon page, which will be dedicated to my next project after a short break.
