The gender should be a blue link when picking your family background click it to change your gender
I can't put units on walls while being attacked I think its a bug

Edit: I put it back on took it off hit seek and and after combat I could see again
I got a bug where I can't see the map I can still move and run into people but I can't see. I was in the succubus tower and gave Rinny my milk and when it ended I could not see
