<3 Thank you

Yes. once you get that strategy down, it makes the levels easier for sure , then its a time race and how little pings you can use.

Thank you. I think in my next update I will allow the tick speed at which you walk to be adjustable like the arrow speed. So that users can pick what works for them.  Yeah those are great suggestions especially for multiple enemies.

Thank you, yeah changing it faster really adds a complexity to it but I think it allows people to play how they want :)

Thank you! I had a struggle with that , some of the testers thought it was too fast , others thought too slow so I tried finding a middle ground.

Thank you so much! Yeah it took a little while to get the timing just right but it works :)

Thank you so much! Oh that is a really fun idea. I will look into that.

Great looking game , sound is great but yes it is difficult before you get used to it lol

Really fun, love the skill check for power ups!

Audio was great. Fun concept. I enjoyed playing it.

Thank you very much! I really enjoyed that part.

Thank you!

Awesome! Thank you!

Plays smooth. Minimalistic but it works

Yes great point. I think it was level 3 with the boxes. I accidentally turned left , ran the program because I did not want to but after the program ran I was still left. I was hoping it would reset me. Again cool game for a programmer so well done.

Yes very cool concept. Enjoyed the puzzles.

As a programmer very cool concept. I wish there was a way to reset if I put in the wrong command.

Cool game. Last level was difficult.

Cool concept,  catching the bird with the key was fun.

The Broken Silence  is a one-button echolocation horror game I made in one week for the One Button Jam.

You're trapped fifteen depths underground in total darkness. The entire game is played with left click only:

- TAP to send out a sonar ping that lights up the cave in a wave of sound

- HOLD to walk where your sweeping arrow points

The catch: everything down here hunts by sound. Every ping you fire tells the monsters exactly where you are. To see, you must be heard. Find the glowing stairs on each procedurally generated depth and climb out.

Some things I'm proud of:

- The whole game  menus included  really is one input. A screen tap works too.

- The level generator was tuned with an in-game playtest survey: I rated every level I played during development, and the generator's rules (no dead ends early on, no straight shots to the exit, no single-tile hallways) came straight from that data.

- Every run tracks your time, deaths, and ping count. Our best playtest run: Please share your best run!  I would genuinely love to see who gets lowest deaths, and lowest ping count and fastest time!

All the character art, death illustrations, and sounds were made for the jam. The game was built using  Godot 4.6.

If you play it, I'd love to hear where you died and what got you. Thanks for looking!
