Wow, quite the game for a first-time Unity developer! It did obviously have a couple of bugs (naturally with jams games), but otherwise it was actually quite a fun experience, and I was surprised at the amount of mechanics there were. Also learning the movement was quite a nice experience. I ended up beating the whole thing, but I found that level 10 was noticeably harder than all the others as the timing felt a little random to actually succeed. Otherwise I quite enjoyed this. 5/5.
Very cool! Yeah, a lot of this game included a lot of bugs to unpack (moving platforms especially), so that ended up dragging down how much content I could make, but I'm glad you enjoyed it! Also yeah, my approach to the theme was not quite as intuitive or gameplay-oriented (i.e. spin webs to spin the gears of the clock tower to win), so I can see how it might be a bit unsatisfactory, but I enjoyed that spin (hehe) on it.
And you're very welcome! My mom deserves the credit indeed. (Your game was also very good)
Thanks! I'm super glad you enjoyed the setting, it might be my favorite one I've done for a game so far. Also glad you caught the idea from the theme of the jam, as some others didn't get it quite as much.
And er, yeah, amid some unscrupulous bugs that arose during my time making the levels, I couldn't make them totally polished in the name of having a decent amount of them, so I get how they can be not as satisfactory as desired. Glad the physics were good though, as I spent a few days perfecting them.
Thanks! The swinging and moving block interactions were my favorite parts of the levels to make as well. The levels are all built around not necessarily having to scale walls, but I always left that in as some extra flexibility. Also my sister is responsible for that art, so she would be very pleased :)
Thanks! I really enjoyed putting in flavor features like that, and I'd recommend it as it really helps with the immersion of the game. Also yeah I just noticed that, turns out I didn't need to add the itch setting for a fullscreen button as that just makes unnecessary complications, so I just fixed it. Thanks for letting me know.
Quite a fun (I mean serious of course) use of the concept and theme of the game! I was hoping for a bit more directing of where you should go, such as signs in the air as hanging signs and whatnot telling you where not to go (especially at the beginning), but I made it to work nonetheless. The physics were really fun and I loved the sound design (especially the firing sound effect).
I like it! Especially how many limited resources you're managing in your lives, coins, spins and whatnot. Although it does turn out that coins seem to be the most limited resource, which feels a little strange. All in all, a very good incarnation of the spin-to-gamble-to-win (a general rule of life) kind of game for this jam.
Cool (pun intended)! The idea is quite cool, and I enjoyed the sound design (especially of clicking the buttons). There is indeed quite a lot of text to read and understand and it can get quite convoluted, especially with it only being 2 rounds. Maybe having it start simpler and lay them on more over time would help. But nice job!
Many a thank! This was my first time making music for a game jam game and I'm glad it turned out well. It definitely helped in my trying to make the game more polished.
I chose a more conceptual direction to follow the theme with, so it's a lot about the narrative of what's happening (i.e. you spin webs to spin the gears of a clock to win). But I can see how it may be less intuitive to some.
Yeah... I feel I definitely could have made the platforming mechanics a bit more polished and that would have improved many things, but my main goal for the character was for it to work well with my other mechanics. Probably could have touched up on it.
Thank you so much though, that rating is a huge compliment. Developing the stuff can be quite difficult but it's words like this that make it all worth a lot more.
Many Thanks! Yeah the web mechanic was definitely meant to be usable for many purposes, and personally it being usable to do abnormal routes is always a fun design to keep in. Glad you liked it!
And yeah moving platforms were as always tough to implement, so some bugs slipped through with them. The second bug though, that one got turned into a feature just for funsies :)
Very clean and polished feeling game! I'm not a roulette natural, so it was a bit difficult to tell what was causing me to gain money or lose, er, a whole lot more money; So that might be a skill issue on my part.
Feels really satisfying to play though, and that music is an absolute banger and really adds to the scene. Definitely really up there in game jam soundtracks.
