You can extract to the same folder as the existing version. I usually extract so both are in the same folder, open the new version to make sure saves are there before i delete old version

Ok, But a save from and old free version should work when upgrading to a newer free version?

Serious question,  Free players can't continue saves through new releases of the game?

I recently downloaded the installer and when trying to load my saved game I get the error    Failed to load :img/charachters/$PEOPLE-HeroAdventurer@(7).png   Any help?  I like having only one save 47% so If I can't fix Ill have to start again
