This new demo does an amazing job of literally mashing up genres and gameplay mechanics and paying homage to the weird old days of AOL, Netscape, and dial-up internet. I was surprised by the amount of depth added beyond the original "No Players Online" game. In the demo, I loved that I wasn't simply stumbling into an eccentric game developer's ill-advised experiment but that there was a mystery to solve and, yes, more ill-advised experiments to conduct.

Great work on this! I'm looking forward to the full release on Steam!

Hmm...the new game is supposed to disappear when you complete it, but it leaves an object behind on the desktop that you need to complete the next task. If it doesn't, you may have encountered a bug.

The empty fields take two games with compatible "souls." The games will combine into something new and the originals will disappear. Once you have that new thing, run it to continue.

I was really impressed by the meta-gameplay in this demo. If you get stuck, it's entirely possible to just keep playing the demo as a sort of overcomplicated emulator for "Fishing With Knives II"!

Look for the "frames"

John's account gives you access to a number of games to download and play. The documentation for the "soul transfer" app gives you tips on what you can put in those empty source slots. The solution isn't obvious but the result is satisfying...and the connotations are kind of hilarious.
