I ended up running this last night for four first time players and everyone had a blast! The Tavern and Great Oak were the highlights from my group.

I’m a brand new GM - only ran DnD 5e a couple times and my group wants to switch to something a bit more imaginative and less combat heavy so we chose Cairn.

I’m a bit confused as the when some of the tables should be used - mainly Minor Loot, Treasures, Relics, and Spellbooks.

As a GM, do I insert encounters where finding these items are possible?

Thanks!! And you got this - just make a whole lot of games!

the toilet code is a tough one!! But very satisfying to solve :)

Thanks wooly! It was definitely a learning experience but I think it turned out pretty cool!

Thank you!! And I was hoping no one would try that! Whoops…

Thanks queenfaith! I can always count on you to be the first to post a video haha

Thanks so much for playing!

Thanks for letting me now! Yeah that’s definitely not me - I only host my games on itch.io.

Yep he’ll snatch you if you’re close to his head!

Im glad you had a good time though!

SPOILER

Hey Daniel! You have to grab the boots from the corpse to open the gate. Then you use the boots to end the game :)

Thanks for playing, queenfaith!!

Thanks!!!

Thanks for playing!! And yeah I wish I had some more time to polish the states of the monster. It was my first time building any type of (intelligent?) enemy behavior like that!

Thanks for the write up and the criticisms! These are really helpful. If I had more than a week then I certainly would have included the more QoL fixes you mentioned.

I tend to lean more towards the slow burn and buildup when pacing my levels in games. I understand it’s not everyone’s style.

Thanks for giving it a try though!

Because it runs really well on my laptop and I’m pretty used to the interface!

I’m thinking of switching to Godot at some point but I’m not a huge fan of GDScript. (I can’t stand statically typed languages)

But thanks for playing!

[PUZZLE SPOILER]

The lock on the door seems destructible, and you can shoot the gun with left mouse button.

Maybe the gun can be used to unlock the door somehow… ;)

Try playing it through a browser if you haven’t yet! Some people are encountering issues when using the itch app it seems.

I’m glad you enjoyed it and I’m honored to be your first game on itch!!

Oh no.. thanks for letting me know! Unfortunately I can’t fix this bug until the voting period for the game jam ends in 2 weeks.

But I’ll fix it as soon as I can. Thanks!

That’s actually apart of the mechanics of the boss battle. The flesh creatures chase you and steal your gun then they run and hide in one of the 4 corners. You just have to walk up to them and steal your gun back.

I wanted to stay away from using a traditional health system and try something different for this project

Thanks, LAGANEZZE :D

Noooo I knew the car would cause a game breaking glitch haha thanks for letting me know

What browser are you using? Maybe try Chrome if you haven’t yet. Also make sure to click in the game window once it’s done loading.

Thanks so much! I barely finished the boss fight in time, but I’m still happy with how it turned out!

Thanks so much for playing!

Haha thanks for playing!!

They just wanted to befriend you!

(JK, I ran outta time in the jam to fix this bug)

The meat creatures steal your gun and run to the corner to hide. You have to find them and take it back!

Thanks so much for playing!! Also you have an awesome profile picture

Thanks for the feedback! And yes Sam is my friend who playtested it lolol

Hey Dorkfishie, you have switch to the money in your inventory using the scroll wheel.

And yeah I know.. I ran out of time in the jam and have to fix it.

Thanks! There were a couple times that I even got scared while making it haha

Of course!

Unfortunately the jam rules only allowed the use of 1 button for the whole game, so I couldn’t go too far with the mechanics.

Thanks for the input!

Thanks so much! Yep, the cockroach scare is pretty brutal it seems haha

Thanks so much for playing!

Hey DevilWolf2000, I added a windows exe. Let me know if you are still having any trouble playing it!

Does it work if you make it full screen and click in the box to focus? Did you get past the menu?

Sure, I can add an exe.
