It doesnt need to fire directly over buildings, Howitzers need way less angle that rockets. It could work like a long range weapon with a quite slow reload and maybe a special aim cuz lets be honest, arty doesnt fire 100m away. It could be cool. But i understand if you dont like the idea.

Quick sugestion.
What if one of the next guns is for a support mission? Instead of fighting directly, u give close support to ally troops in a raid.
Maybe the gun could be a Rifled 152mm Howitzer with a big splash damange but a smaller point damange and slow reload.
It could be cool.
Or maybe a 100mm with HEAT instead of APFSDS, like, better damange against mechs and armored biological enemies with higher RPM than the 120 but less damange against armored enemies (cool idea might be an Armored Crab, like the Paguroidea (Hermit Crab) when they use metal shells or the Limulidae like the Limulus Polyphemus (Horseshoe Crab) wich would be like mini-bosses that are harder to beat than normal crabs)
I don't usually get very excited about things, but since I found this game I've been playing it very often and I check back every couple of weeks to see if you release a new version.
It has a lot of potential and is one of the best pixel art games I've ever played, although my life is rather short, but we're not going to take that into account.
Something that surprised me a lot is that it has very low requirements. (We're talking about a stable +60FPS with an Intel Pentium® B960 2C/2T @ 2.2Ghz (Intel HD3000) from 4000b.C. and 8Gb DDR3 1333Mhz with an HDD 😭
Seriously, I really appreciate what you're doing, keep it up! I'm confident you'll be at least in the top 20 best indie games of 2026 (if not 2025).
(P.S. You nailed it with Valerie in a bunny suit 7w7)
