Thank you for the detailed comment!

You actually got everything right for the bonus challenge, so the issue was entirely my mistake. Really sorry for that!

I had the entire family tree scribbled down on my notebook, and used it as a reference while drawing the pedigree chart for the game, but I somehow completely overlooked Mrain. I think that’s what’s causing the bug.

I'll work on a patch update right away. As for coloring the links that have already been clicked, that's a great idea (I can't believe I didn't think of it)! I'll include that in the update as well, along with fixes for the Analyze button and the other smaller issues you mentioned.

*SPOILERS BELOW*

As for the document “Explaining Death,” it’s actually referring to Selinar, who was murdered by an anti-Impure group. His fate is hinted at in a few subtle ways:

In “Wretched Land” Selinar’s father warns him against staying in Merrithel, because the nobles are growing restless from the thought of an Impure being among their higher ranks, and, on top of that, being the father of the last possible heir.

It’s also very subtly hinted at in Mercian’s letter. Mercian says that people told him Vilan was dead, but then she turned out to be a Mutant. He then asks if that means his father is a Mutant too, hinting at the fact that his father is dead (being a child, he doesn’t fully grasp the concept of death, and that was his train of thought).

Now that I think about it, this may be unnecessarily confusing for players, since the document “Explaining Death” is among the first documents that can be opened, and thinking about who died and for what cause so early in the game might distract from the main mystery. I’ll consider making this document appear later in the game from a more relevant document (probably “Wretched Land”).

Congrats on completing the challenge, and good luck on your game dev journey!

Beautifully made game. The unique art style was so refreshing, and I loved how the world building made me experience aspects of Latin American culture. The little details, like the journal and crumpled paper animations and the change in atmosphere when you “travel in time” were such a beautiful touch, and the system for making connections between characters was so polished and satisfying.

After I finished the game, I told my entire family about it. Not even kidding, I made them all come over to my laptop and walked them through the art and story (even tried to convince my brother, who isn’t the biggest fan of puzzle games, to try it. I hope he does. He loves anything that has to do with mythology).

Congrats on making this wonderful game in such a short time!

Thank you for the detailed review! And the kind words seriously made my entire week.

I was unsure whether the difficulty level for this game was too high, and your feedback really helped me pinpoint what needs changing.

As for the more ambiguous characters, I was worried that writing more about them would distract players from the main “plot” of the game. But I can see now that a few documents explaining these characters wouldn’t be too much, as this game is supposed to be story-heavy anyway.

Thank you again for playing. I still can’t believe you spent eight hours getting through my game! I should congratulate you on your perseverance.

I was pretty burnt out after working on this game non-stop for the past three weeks, but your comment really motivated me to start working on an update right away!

Thank you for the feedback! The bugs have been fixed, and the full game is now released ;)

Thank you for the detailed review and kind words! They made me smile :)

As for the music, it was done last minute, and it's definitely high on my list of things to change before I update the game.  Your feedback also reminded me that I should add an options menu so players can adjust the music and ambient track to their liking. Thanks again for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed my game!

The art blew me away! Seriously. And it was made in only four days?  Wow.

I love games with no direct objectives and that are all about discovery, so this one was a perfect match for my tastes.  The music and atmosphere really made me feel as if I were  experimenting on my own in a cold, lonely lighthouse. This has to be one of my favorite games in the jam so far!

Thank you for the feedback, it really means a lot to me! As for adding more visual material, I totally agree. The time constraints made me focus more on the writing and code, but now that I've got those two (mostly) outta the way, I plan on focusing more on the visual aspect of the game for the next update.

Thank you for the comment! It really made my day :)
As for not being a native speaker, I totally understand. My mom isn't a native speaker either, and she wanted to take breaks between sessions playing the game. That's why I'm currently working on a save/load feature so players can save their progress and continue whenever they want!

Wow, this game was juiced to the max. It was so satisfying to play, and I loved how there was an option to make the game look dumb (made me laugh). Overall, this game is an unbelievable feat for a nine-day jam!

Loved this game! The taxi and character art was so nice, and I loved the car mutations.  Amazing that you made all this in such a short time!

Thanks! Krita's watercolor paintbrushes really came in handy for the paper texture ;)

Thank you! Yes, the game is currently unwinnable :(. I just put up a note on the game page so people would know. I'm working on the bug fixes now, and will update the game as soon as the game jam voting period ends (there is also a ton of lore that I didn't have time to write, and it'll all be added in the update, as well as more art and illustrations). Thank you for taking the time to try out my game!

Thank you for the kind words!

Thanks for the feedback! I'll check it out and see what's causing the bug

Thank you!

That's a great idea! I'll add it in the next update for sure. I also plan on adding different difficulty levels to the game in the future. I myself felt that I might get arthritis after testing this game hundreds of times, and I think an easy mode would be nice for people that want to play the game at a relaxing pace. Thank you for the comment!
