tbh i just got skyboxes from https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/2d/textures-materials/sky/fantasy-skybox-f... , then 

• on the source image of my chosen skybox, turn down the max size and turn filter mode to point (to get crisp pixels)
• on the skybox material, I tweaked the colors and other settings to get the vibe i wanted
