Neat design, I considered doing something similar. Also I'm either really bad at this game or the enemies are really good at their job.

You just have to get really close.
I made the hitbox for eating the planets bigger than one might expect but it is admittedly still pretty hard due to the lack of depth perception. The unintuitiveness of the controls is partly by design, to add a learning curve. If I had more time I would have tried to add some UI stuff to make everything a little clearer.
