I know this is a petty nitpick, but I have noticed that on the jam page under the “Allowed” section for assets, the heading is marked by a red circle emoji (⭕). I find the usage of red iconography counter-intuitive, as the color red usually implies something is prohibited. May I instead suggest the check box with check emoji (☑️) as it not only uses a neutral color, but also matches the visual style of the check mark button emoji (✅) used for the “Required” heading.

While we’re at it, you may also consider swapping the cross mark emoji (❌) used in the “Not allowed” heading with the cross mark button emoji (❎) for the sake of visual consistency. That way all icons will be represented by rounded squares (✅☑️❎ℹ️ VS ✅⭕❌ℹ️). Admittedly, I am on the fence about this one as you’d be swapping the color red, which is used correctly in this context, for green. But, as the selection of emojis is finite, I’d personally lean towards consistent UX versus semantic coloring in this particular scenario.

Haha yeah, the physics really does go crazy at times, the trick is to use as little building blocks as possible to keep the structure stable.

And yes, we did combine 2 themes from 2 jams just for an extra challenge. We weren’t sure if it was a smart ideas since we always pull an all nighter on the last day.

It’s really heartwarming that you recognize us from our previous work. ^_^ We started participating since the 6th Big Game Jam and on the 7th we got the best results (#1 community voted game, #2 judges pick).

Thanks for the feedback. We agree, it’s a bit tedious to drag building blocks but it’s designer that way so that people can play on their phones too. If we update the game we’ll definitely add some keyboard shortcuts. Hope you enjoyed the game! ^_^

Brilliant puzzle game to test your reflexes.

Starts off manageable then gets pretty hectic.

Best entry I’ve seen in terms of 2D art.

I wish the colors were a bit more distinct tho. I’d occasionally mix up the orange and red colored coffers.

Nice little puzzle game. Like pipe mania but with a 2d avatar on the puzzle board.

I may have discovered a bug on the 2nd level. The highlighted tile didn’t connect until rotated. Are the straight pipes directional, or is it because I haven’t moved it yet (that is the default rotation when the puzzle loads)?

Fun tower defense game. I played a bit until the 3rd portal opened.

It looks and handles well.

The difficulty is under tuned. Most waves didn’t make it very far

I don’t think I managed to make good use of the leaf nodes. I did not place too many as I did not want to sacrifice tiles.

Very unique and charming game!

Love the hand-drawn graphics and silly story. All the strange descriptions the socks had helped me remember and match them more easily.

The cat was a bit relentless. Wish it was easier to shake it and make it go back into partol mode

Sometimes the game would lock up then I press the reset button 🔁 and would have to reload the page.

Nice and simple puzzle game.

Some puzzles later in the list feel a bit easier than prior ones. Could benefit from re-ordering.

The final level features two different pairs of nodes that are very similar shades of purple. Some more distinction would have been nice. Maybe even consider different shapes.

I gave it a few attempts.

Not bad if this is your first tower defense.

It appeared that the cost of connections increased by 5 every time one was placed. The game could definitely benefit from a description on the itch page to claify this to players.

Having just one life is brutal though. And the waves appeard to just continue after I got the game over message.

Nice take on the theme! Was fun to create a chain of cars. Nice graphic and UI.

The game would benefit from a portrait mode and possibly slower camera movement at first, then ramp up later

Overall I liked this one.

The game was fun, sound design was alright and the graphics were a nice mix of hand drawn-yet-polished for a jam game.

The areas where I believe the game could benefit most are:

• Difficulty curve: Start with weaker and slower enemies at first. I got far enough to see that enemies to in fact get faster and stronger, but I think the current starting point should be the “mid game”.

• More upgrade choices/variety. You could have had options such as projectile speed, max projectile distance, escort orb speed, escort orb max HP, maybe HP regen, maybe adverse effects for enemy orbs such as making them slower, have less HP, less density etc.

As I’m sure you’re aware, “story” is one of the criteria when rating other’s submissions. However, most games that I have come across so far do not even have a story. This is perfectly fine as not every game is in need of a story, nor does every team/participant need to care about storytelling. Especially for a game jam.

My question is: What it the fair rating to give such a submission?

So far, without investing much thought, I have been giving such submissions one star. The rationale being: since no effort was put into this category it does not deserve a higher rating.

However, I am starting to reconsider my position for the following reasons:

• Jams tend to award an overall average star rating at the end. Giving one start to “story” hurts the average unnecessarily.
• Participant were not even made aware of this criteria prior to the rating phase.
• “Story” should be considered an optional category. The only compulsory goal should be to submit a working game that adheres to the main theme.

That being said, I now believe that the fair choice would have been to award three out of five stars for posts with no story. Giving it an average three-star rating would neither harm nor benefit the average overall score.

I appreciate that it is too late in the rating phase to be asking such a question. I will continue to award one star for games with no story for the sake of consistency. But I will take the lessons from this post going forward into future jams.

I sincerely apologize to anyone who’s score I may have adversely impacted with my choices.

Or, since there are no prizes to be obtained, I may just be overthinking the situation?

Completed all 12 levels.

This was a very pleasant puzzle game. First the theme well.

The hand drawn graphics give it charm and music goes well with it.

It’s giving me “The Incredible Machine” vibes which is one of my childhood favorite game franchises

This game goes to show that it doesn’t matter how big your balls are… It’s how you use them 😎

Fun little game. The destructible physics were satisfying. Sometimes left clicking made my ball go haywire.

Side note: Your itch.io page could benefit from a bit of contract. Currently it features black text on a very dark background which makes it hard to read.

Neat little puzzle game. Fits the theme brilliantly. There is enough variation in the puzzle design to keep it interesting.

Note to other players in case they experience the same: On my initial playthrough the mouse and keyboard controls did not appear to work at all, but upon refreshing the web page everything started to work as expected. Playing on Chrome on Windows 11.

Simple and straightforward to play.

The concept is unique and fits the theme well.

Really like the hand-drawn MS Paint style sprites compared to just downloading a random asset pack.

The audio is very quiet. If you hadn’t mentioned voice acting in the description I wouldn’t have even noticed. I had to ramp up my speakers quite high to hear the audio.

Compared to other Godot submissions you nailed text scaling. This has been particularly bothersome on my 5k2k monitor

Even though you submitted the wrong game, this is still enjoyable. Consider adding sounds, more enemies and weapons after the jam ends. You have a solid base here for something big. Well done!

I really dig the art of this game but unfortunately most controls don’t work for me. I’ve read some of your other replies and you mentioned that I should play on my phone, does it even work properly on a PC? But anyway judging by the screenshots, the game looks solid, well done!

Very confusing at first but ended up being a fun puzzle game. Well done!

This was a fun little ARPG.

The combat was enjoyable, although a bit easy once you figure out how to make the bots whiff.

The overall length was ideal to experience the game without dragging on for too long (especially given how many submissions there are to go through)

Would have loved to see more challenge in the last encounter. At the very least more health for the boss.

The game could also maybe benefit from an ironman mode with no/limited healing between encounters.

This was one of the most fun submission I’ve tried so far!

You clearly had fun writing the dialogue. I appreciate the goofiness.

As a retro MS-DOS enjoyer I liked the simple-yet-vibrant color palette.

I made it to the level with Ymmep, the red definitely-not-a-penguin but did not know hot to proceed.

I would’ve loved to keep trying but, alas, time is short and there are many more submissions to go through.

I played it to completion and even restarted to see what would happen if I refuse to help the Hues.

The retro graphics are a standout compared to the entries I’ve seen so far.

I love how the Hues have different personalities. Some of them can be cynical, as opposed to all of them being obnoxiously happy which is a nice touch.

A fullscreen toggle would’ve been nice

not-so-fun fact: Back in the 90s, everyone at school had a Tamagotchi except me. Still bitter about it to this very day … 😒

Amusing submission.

I got eaten by a ghost while reading the dialogue in the first level, which wasn’t ideal. But after that managed to complete both levels.

The atmosphere reminds me of the Lordaeron Fall tileset in WarCraft III, giving a cozy autumn vibe (which would make sense if you’re in the southern hemisphere)
