Great concept, but it would really benefit from better documentation.

  • AFAICT, there’s no way to go back a page in the guide, or bring it up again after you close it. So to reference it, you have to close and open the program again.
  •  I can’t work out what some icons/objects are supposed to be. Understandable for pixel art, but I wish there were labels or a list (especially for the menu bar).

Adding a text file with a copy of the guide and list of what the menu icons are would help a lot.

I’m going to keep playing around with it. Hopefully I can figure it out! It would be useful to have all of these functions in one program (that doesn’t stress out my laptop).

I was excited to get this in the Gaza bundle and finally got to play it recently for my birthday. It was delightful! It was a last minute switch from a different cryptid game; one friend notoriously hates character creation, and another showed up with a cute tarot deck as a gift.

The two multiplayer modes included look good & we’ll play with them next time, but we were all tired and I wanted to avoid us staring blankly at empty character sheets for half an hour 😅 Instead, we pooled our few functioning brain cells to make and share one investigator. We still took turns drawing cards, narrating, and rolling dice. It worked really well, and our investigator was more interesting and complex as a result. In the end, she lived happily ever after with the bioluminescent moss-and-fungi forest dragon of her dreams.

The character & cryptid sheets are now on our refrigerator and will probably stay there.
