We where going to have a tutorial but unfortunately it had to get cut as the person who was meant to be working on it dropped out last min. There is a way to see what tiles are being colonised though! There's an overlay for what tiles you claim that fades in as you claim them

Had very last min team dropouts that caused delays but we have a build now!

Quite a lot of keys gotten that way end up on sites like G2A and such, that might be what he means by costing money.

Door Cult Door Cult

No problem, and thank you! Sorry that was confusing, at least I know for future jams that submission pages don't have any information at all on them haha. Maybe going back to good ol' readme.txt files would be best xD

Ohh WASD and arrow keys? I read it on the main page as you could just use either haha

I guess that's a negative of most people likely going through the submissions page to play - I didn't realise that none of the text on the game's itch page would be shown here haha so I put less information inside the game and the full details on the game's page.

For why the same content could lose you followers instead of gain them:

Check for impersonations! Signatures of emails are typed in by the sender, fraudsters trying to use your audience for their gain might have typos.

Neat concept, but I couldn't work out how to even beat the first level aha.. I pushed the 1 block but I couldn't interact with the door and I couldn't get up to the 2 block

What are the controls? All I can seem to do is just run side to side and jump, and just keep dying. I've tried hitting every button I can

Generative AI is generative AI, it was ruled as not allowed.

I love the idea, but I struggled to understand how to play it. Sprites kept overlapping and with the colours being so similar it was really hard to work out what I was looking at, picking up, etc. It also kept randomly freezing for me when soil got tilled (web version). Loved the music though! It really fit the game and the character designs are really cute ^^

Thank you for the comment and for playing our game! We tried to make the game go pretty fast, in our testing we thought the game pacing would be fast but now others have played it it's been super interesting to see the spread of game lengths reported.

For the emails, the original plan was to have quite a few more but our writer got sick so I had to come up with some, unfortunatly couldn't get around to doing more to help with the weighting so the randomness on picking the emails isn't super balanced as the system was largely designed around having a larger pool to pull from.

For what it's worth, steam has forced any page without a set release date to now say "coming soon".

Thank you for the response! I can't wait to see the full game!

It would be wonderful if the subtitles where more readable! Currently with the font that's used and the fact it's a white text with no background, there's many cases where it's just unreadable and unfortunatly meant I had to watch a youtube video playthrough of it instead of continuing to play it myself..

Thank you so much! Oversights happen, don't worry ^^ What matters is how you respond about it and your responses have been very positive! Super good game though, and it's fantastic that you'll add them in.

Not just you either. Had to watch a youtube video of someone playing the game instead just so I could get the automatic captions to understand what was being said. Kinda annoying considering there's subtitles in other parts of the game tbh.

Dev, any chance of an update adding subtitles to all parts of the game?

There are many other sources for it, kotaku aren't the onion. They have linked many direct sources to kickstarter's blog posts in the article if you had read it.

artists working together on a game doesn't mean "mimicking" the original's style, it's about working together on each others strengths and weaknesses. If that's what you're on about

Well, playtesters usually aren't paid - the ones who are are QA, not testers aha, so that's always an option if you need some extra help :D

also, you might not be looking to hire, but what about voulnteers? :P

Kickstarter isn't the most trustworthy of companies imo: https://kotaku.com/kickstarter-announces-blockchain-future-doubles-down-a-184823...

Indiegogo hasn't gone that route from what I can tell which is good, but there's also always patreon to go to (though that is also far from perfect, heard many stories of the platform screwing over users and creators on there).
