Yeah I like this idea, I originally scoped cards that would do damage on tiles for just 1 wave or something temporary but I just didn't get time. Good recommendation thanks :)

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed :) I was thinking about the rotation, I kind of like the non rotating as it makes it a log harder? You have to think about exactly where to place each item and sometimes you have to kind of 'make do' with the wrong pieces I think :)

Humm, I have still been working on the game so I think the current version would be a bit of a nightmare to go back in source control as I have some changed assets etc that are local :(

Unique game for sure! From a design perspective one thing that would be cool is adding icons for the stats and actions, I think it would break up the walls of text a bit 😌

Thanks :) I have been devving for 8 years including at AAA and indie :) Also I am familiar with Tower Defense :) Keep going!

Aah, its bleeding edge webgpu build for Unity so its probably not supported by everything right now I think :(

Thanks for playing, you must of really enjoyed it to get that far! :) I am thinking of building a full game out of it so I will keep the itch page up and update if so :)

I think its a full on memory leak :) thanks for playing! :D

Absolute legend! Thanks for playing :D :D

Yeah my bad on that one, there is only 1 piece that you can rotate actually the directional attack one, I should make that more obvious! Thanks :)

Wow you did like it if you made it to wave 19! Thanks for playing so much :) I think there must be a small memory leak judging by the image you attached, so I will have to take a good look (WASM/JS is constrained by browser so usually only 2gb or so). I feel like I will go ahead and build this up into a full game! Thanks! :)

Holy moly this is too big brain for me! Its a good idea, maybe its because I don't really play big brain games but it took me soooo long to get even 1 match! Maybe if you are going to build it into a full game add a simple level to start where you just need to make 1 predetermined change or something like that :) Very original though, would do well as a mobile game maybe?

TDLR: After 8 years in the industry, both small scale and AAA I was super burnt out but this jam has given me a bit of respite and joy again. Thanks for organizing it any thanks to everyone that has looked at my game so far!

Long version:
I just wanted to make a small writeup or piece about gamedev and this jam. It might help others in the same situation, and I think its good for me to write some things down.

I started game dev about 8 years ago by the gamedevtv course on C++ and Unreal. After already doing some small coding work at uni and my first job I got off to a decent start. However, like a bunch of devs I bit off way more than I could chew and tried to release a AAA game from day one. Several years of working on this game and I finally gave up, I had sunk a bunch of personal time and effort in.

Good news was then on the horizon however, I secured a job at Wargaming. Better news was then in store as we got acquired by Riot and I was suddenly in one of the best AAA companies in the industry. However, as anyone in AAA will know its a big difference from building small scoped indie titles. I enjoyed my time there but I felt like it was time to go back to what I know.

A year and a bit later and I have been struggling to gain any sort of traction whatsoever. I bounced between a few projects, then came across a roguelike car game idea which has fantastic potential but it has been a never-ending grind to get it out.

After seeing the jam I thought I would go full circle back to my roots and the gamedevtv name sparked something in me. I worked really hard on this jam and it seemed to come together so well. I built something I am really proud of in such a short amount of time, and you guys have been incredibly helpful and positive with the comments!

Thanks to everyone :)

Thanks for the detailed overview I really appreciate that! I am starting to think after the people commenting on the game it might have a future in it where I build it into a full roguelike deck builder. I have built out a bunch of TODO's from your comments that cover a bunch of the areas you talked about!

Very cool, I like the concept a lot! Would be nice to be able to crush an enemy between two enemies but the idea feels solid :)

I also made a TD Game :) Damn yours is hard though, I didn't get past the third wave in five attempts!

Yeah this is sick, nice one :) Not my usual kind of game but I got a way though it. Only feedback is to consider some particles when words are sent, like a sort of bejeweled reaction kind of effect :)

I agree with iMRAN, I get that its a incremental but I would suggest having some sort of hook or reason for doing the incremental stuff, like for example  make it so you have to think about where to build as some areas can only support certain buildings :) Overall good work though :)

I enjoyed this one! Some progression would be nice. I also felt that the difficulty could scale a bit more but enjoyed the feel of this one :)

I was kind of confused about what to do, one or two info panels that you can click through would probably help :)
