Keep the scope of the project to something you think you can get done at a fully functional but un-juiced level in half of the remaining time. That way, it's ok if you go over, and if you don't go over, you can add a ton of juice which will make your game feel much more complete, or even extra features/levels if you're really quick.

I played and rated yours, it was awesome. If you have a chance, a rating on mine would be appreciated. https://itch.io/jam/game-name-game-jam-1/rate/4474771
I'm currently on the hunt for ratings if you have some time: https://itch.io/jam/game-name-game-jam-1/rate/4474771
I'll take a look at yours now as well.
The main mechanic of this is creative and was fun to play with. I think the main things that could have been improved would have been in having background music, and maybe a little variety to the die skillchecks - maybe different dice could have different things. Overall though, this is a solid entry, nice job.
I'll take a look at yours now and leave some feedback.

I was able to give this a rate a couple days ago, it was decent fun.

I tried it out, definitely a unique concept. The visuals are quite nice, and the gameplay is cool.
