Simple and extremely fun game. I really enjoyed it.
Thanks, all feedback is helpful - it's nice to know what you like and what you don't.
About the current lack of content we wrote about in the GDD here (I recommend jumping there and read what we planned/plan to add - it's worth it, trust me). Current product is more like proof of concept rather than an actual game - it implements only core idea of paying for upgrades with your humanity
You said "narrative element" - I'm uncertain about it, the game lacks that part. I thing adding more feedback to the player would fill that missing narrative element - the game doesn't show that in itself without reading the GDD. It will be added in the future versions of the game.
The deal with the artstyle mishmash - lack of time. I made the tile set the day before submission, replacing placeholders. :)
And the reason why the cover image and the shop look better is that they were made by Skw972, not by me.
The game lacks player feedback - I think we should add some narrative text from the seller in the shop and some bar representing the player's remaining humanity.
As in a comment above - visible changes on sprite were in our minds - we will add this as soon as we continue working on this project.
Yeah, the AI is terribly silly - I'm gonna improve that soon. To make the game harder we also planned to add other enemy types - like drones who can easily fly over obstacles.
Right, the shop artwork is awesome. Skw972 made that. The music is great too - also made by him. Btw it was the first track ever made by him.
Appreciate your feedback, thanks.
Yeah, the game absolutely needs feedback. Due to no experience and limited time we abandoned a lot of improvements - we were focused on making an MVP, and that's what we did - nothing more. But reading these comments motivates us to keep working on this project.
About the changing character sprite - it was in our minds although considering whether to focus on core gameplay or better looks we chose to implement core gameplay first.
