I simply had to, I was so invested! Can't wait for the full release <3

It's difficult to put into words just how important it is for stories like this to be given a platform to be heard, especially when the person who had to live through it is the one to bare it to the world. An incredibly emotional experience contextualised though a genuinely gorgeous game, by a truly brave individual I have nothing but respect and admiration for. Beautiful art style, wonderful music, amazing voice acting, all providing a bittersweet contrast to the harsh reality of a person's life we have been given permission to see.
I was sad to hear that 'The Quiet Things' trailer got pulled from the BAFTA showcase. To be told that your life experiences are too extreme to portray, that the things you went through need to be watered down and censored for the sensitivities of others, must be deeply distressing. The title of the game is very fitting in that respect, unfortunate as that is. The Quiet Things; the quiet things that happen every day, the things that people don't want to hear about, maybe because it hurts to hear, maybe because it's hard to stomach, or maybe because they just don't care. But there are those who do care, people who will listen, and with projects like this, it can only help to increase awareness.
I applaud the dev and the whole team that helped to bring this game to life.
It's been a long while since I last played one of your games, and I'm so glad I've finally circled back around to another one of these marvellous creations!
This is a beautiful game with a wonderful art style and a bittersweet story. The lighting design was gorgeous, the atmosphere cosy, and the world building leaves you curious and eager to learn more about the universe the game exists within. A cute, short and sweet platformer that was truly a joy to play :)
I do hope things have been going well for you since your final project (Wyrmling) at the htk Academy, and I look forward to any projects you may release in the future (if you choose to continue down the path of game development, of course) <3
I'm often apprehensive about games designed for the sole purpose of making the player rage (mainly due to the doubt I have that I'll possess the skill required to actually progress in games like that), but this game looked really fun and I'm so glad I decided to play it.
The gameplay itself was very enjoyable, just the right amount of frustrating that doesn't fully ruin your mood, with checkpoints positioned in a way that felt far to travel to, but did not feel so far that respawning felt like an overwhelming punishment.
The art style is wonderful, very cute and playful, which I feel contrasts well with the rage-inducing intent of the gameplay. Couple the art style with the comedy the game provides (absurd, bizarre and somewhat slapstick in nature), and the experience feels very balanced between frustration and humour; you can enjoy the game for its properties beyond just reaching that next checkpoint. I consider that to be a very well thought-out game design.
The character customisation was most certainly a welcome surprise, I always adore it when a game gives you the ability to design your own character.
Definitely looking forward to playing the full game when it releases :D
This game is honestly amazing. The art style, the sound design, the atmosphere, and the story you are exposed to, all of them combine perfectly together to provide such an immersive and unsettling experience. The world building is fascinating to me, and I know for a fact I haven't reached a true ending yet - I wish I'd had more time to record when I was playing this. I will definitely be coming back to this game to try and uncover more of the story, alongside the true ending I'm eager to learn about :)
I adore this demo so much; I was so sad when I reached the end of it, so desperate to experience more of this masterpiece. The art style alone was enough to steal my heart, but everything about this demo was stunning. The gameplay felt so fluid and satisfying, the atmosphere was simultaneously comforting and unsettling, the story being set up is so intriguing, and the food just looked so good. I truly cannot wait for the full game to release, I'm so eager to immerse myself back in and experience the journey that lies ahead <3
This was such a bizarre experience, I really loved it. I'm always a fan of peculiar characters, and this game certainly had a selection of them, all with their own distinctive identities, and all a joy to interactive with. I'm desperate to know more about this world and the people that inhabit it. The atmosphere was great, the unsettling liminal environment certainly doing as intended :)
Really loved this game. As short it was, I found the experience extremely enjoyable. Getting thrown in with no context was wild, but it made me want to learn more about the world I was navigating in, I was genuinely immersed throughout. Despite being given no instruction or guidance, the goal was intuitive, a testament to the game design, regardless of the simplicity of the layout. The sound design was satisfying and the character designs were intriguing. I'd love to see more come from this game, the idea of getting to explore the story behind this strange world truly does excite me :)
I love this demo so much! The art style is amazing and really complimented the atmosphere of the game. The beginning section of the game very much reminded me of the Spirited Away style, I don't know if there was some inspiration drawn from there , but it was wonderful. I adored all of the characters introduced in this demo, each of them so strange and unique with their own distinctive personalities, it was truly delightful. I'm extremely excited for the release of the full game, I can't wait to see what this afterlife has to offer <3
I had a lot of fun with this game. I really love the art style, character designs are really cool and I think it's fun getting to name the suspects. I had a great time trying to figure out what voices to give each character.
The cases were quite jarring, which definitely helped ground the theme of the game into an unsettling territory, the contrast between the names you'd give - often light-hearted and silly - and the details of the crimes - quite violent and serious - offered up such a bizarrely uncomfy atmosphere.
A very enjoyable experience, well done dev :D
I loved this demo so much! Truly a wonderfully immersive experience, brimming with intrigue and unease. The art style, the story, the characters, the extreme attention to detail, everything about this game kept me fully invested. I really must commend the pure love and dedication that has clearly been poured into every aspect of this game. I'm so excited to delve deeper into this world when the full game is released; very much a unique treasure to experience <3
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the video, it was really fun to record :)
No worries about the accuracy meter, although it is nice knowing I wasn't picking the wrong options.
I really like the mechanic of the Joke Generator automatically providing a terrible joke if you don't check the personal drives, it gives a cool impression that the machine understands you're not trying and out of principle it will do a bad job regardless of the accuracy of your guesses.
Whilst I'm sad to learn there are no plans as of yet to develop more from this world, I understand and respect that, and I will definitely be looking into more of your games (past and future) off the back of this experience <3
Admin is one of the very first games I did a video of on my channel when I first started, and it has baffled me that - over two years - it has been the most consistently viewed video I have, quietly and steadily increasing in views as time goes by. It truly was a joy to play and I think it's awesome that you're planning to expand the game into something more. Can't wait to experience it! :D
I loved this game so much! The art style is amazing and the story - although short - is rich with characters bursting with personality. I look forward to seeing more projects in this style; even an expanded version of this game would be great, I'm so curious about the world these adorable characters live in :D
Just saw the news about the private funding. It saddens me you didn't manage to get it, but I'm glad you're still striving to release the full game. I cannot wait to experience it! I played the demo on Steam so that I could leave a review there as well, and I've just posted a video to try and help get the word out. I know it's not much, but I hope this helps get you the recognition you deserve. I look forward to experiencing your masterpiece when it releases <3
This is an amazing game! The story you live through as you experience this game is deeply tragic and disturbing; the further I got into the story, the more I began to question where the true horror really lies. The emotional strings pulled in this game are cruel in a very well done way, and the pacing of the story felt right. I really did enjoy this game, and I look forward to anything you may be working on for future projects :)
This is such a gorgeous game; the art style, the lighting, the sound design, everything makes the atmosphere so rich and entrancing, which manages to add to the unsettling and tense experience as you play through this demo. I tip my hat to you, Apophenia 23, well done on creating such a stunning piece of art! I simply cannot wait to experience the full game when it releases :D
I adore the aesthetic of this game, the characters are all so uniquely designed and diverse in their personalities. I'm not put off by worms or bugs (except for spiders; I'm a huge arachnophobe), but the paranoia 'Womb of Worms' instilled within me is a testament to the skill and passion that has gone into the game. Well done, Horse Hoof Games, I can't wait for the full release! :D
sessena, once again you have delivered a wonderfully enjoyable experience in the form of your final project for the htk Academy; beautiful colour palette, a cheerful atmosphere, charming character designs and an intriguing world steeped in lore that I want to know more about. As far as final projects go, this is most definitely a win in my eyes. Truly, a splendid game, may you continue to create and flourish <3
Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying the playthroughs; your games are always such a joy to play! I've just seen that you've published a new one and I look forward to playing it; based on the images it already looks really good, once again the art style is something I very much look forward to admiring. I do hope your finals are going well, wishing you the best of luck :)
Another beautiful game! Short and sweet, and left me wanting more. The plot was intriguing, steeped in mystery and ethereal beauty, I'd love to know more about the character's motivation and the village they speak of. The puzzles were intuitive and integrated naturally into the world very well, which allowed me to stay fully immersed in the serene atmosphere. Truly loved this, thank you once again for creating such enjoyable experiences :D
There is something profoundly nostalgic about this game, both the graphics and the soundtrack brought a comforting atmosphere, and the voice acting coupled with a nice variety of diverse characters added to the charm of the world in which we explore. I adore Chev and hope beyond hope that his life will take a positive turn so that he may experience happiness and contentment. Bravo to Studio Laaya, a truly wonderful short game you have bestowed unto the world, keep up the amazing work :)
The second game of yours I've played, and I adore it just as much as I did Avalon. From the wonderous artwork, to the calming music, to the topic itself, Postmaster Frog was a delight to play. Your ability to develop games that feel like an emotional support blanket is truly amazing. I have uploaded a video on this joyful game on YouTube, if you feel any inclination to watch; regardless, you should know that your work provides a true sense of comfort and enjoyment :)
That's amazing to hear! Can't wait to see more from this world. I've checked the page for Wolfsong and have added it to my 'Interested in Playing' collection. It looks very beautiful and I look forward to playing it :)
I did a video on Avalon if you'd like to experience my complete adoration for your game; it really was a joy to play x
As short as it is, this game is truly delightful. The atmosphere and aesthetic are so comfy and warm, playing this game felt like being engulfed in a tranquil hug. Each character felt full with their own personalities and were a joy to interact with. I do hope that there may be more of this little universe in store for the future, as I would love to see a growing narrative to this storyline, however, if not; I simply say well done and thank you, for creating such an endearing short experience. Keep up the good work :)
