Really fun and puzzley! I also went with a revolver for mine, but I really like the wild west aesthetic of yours!

CRAZY GREAT GAME! I went in a bit of a similar direction Idea wise, but your implementation was suuuuper different from mine, great art, and great game!

dude just played it, and I freaking LOVE the music! whole ambiance and game is real fun!

I’d love to get a web build working, but unfortunately ue5.8 doesn’t support that, also didn’t have time for Linux, maybe in the future though!

Dude, thanks so much! I hadn't heard of the async plugin! (I'll check out the level design resource too! You're the goat!)

Fair enough, the fun of the system shows up more when you get to higher floors and have a more full mag to play around with, knowing the order of your bullets is great, but I do find that not knowing which one you're going to start with adds a bit of chaotic fun to what would be a pretty cookie cutter combat otherwise. Thanks for playing!

The bullets you choose affect your reload speed, so if you're loading up with too powerful of bullets then your mag will take lots of time to reload. Also, headshots don't do extra damage

Thanks for the comment, your seriousness is very buisnesslike. Much appreciated

AMAZING GAME! loved the art, ambiance, and especially the lil red goop and how it sloshed around! Heads up though, you are tagged as a Unreal Engine game which I don't think is a huge deal, but just wanted to let you know in case the mods are strict about engine tags (bc the unreal sponsorship and all)

this was a very serious game

Okay, so that was a fun jam!

I do feel that out of all my game jams, I probably had my best performance on this one. Not that this game was the best that I've made, but that I did my best work of creating scalable systems and doing things the right way rather than duct taping everything together with spaghetti code.

I worked on this jam with an artist who did pretty much all the visuals, and I did all the music, SFX, and coding in Unreal Engine.

We did a 1940s spy aesthetic with a spinning revolver chamber as the core of our game.

I hooked up proper components and interfaces for the damage and bullets, as well as created a data asset system to store everything upgrade/bullet/UI related for when you're picking your new bullets to use.

Because Bullets affect reload time, we had to split our reload animations into 3 parts, beginning, looping middle, and end. Then we could use notify tracks to hop to the next one based on the variable reload time. I hadn't had to program anything first person related (FPS at least) and was a little worried that rotations and animations wouldn't line up with the camera well, but the artist actually rigged and animated the character in UE, meaning that when we used those anim files, it worked flawlessly within minutes, so huge shout out to her!

anywho, thanks for giving this a read!

Thanks! I had a lot of fun making the music! I definitely agree with the last part, I wanted to make more rooms for the procedural generation system, but ran out of time around 15 rooms

Thanks for playing!

Thanks for playing! There's a fair amount of strategy to bullet choices once you get to the higher floors(4+) and enemies stop dying in 1-2 shots, it forces you to use more concussive bullets to either stun enemies or blast yourself across the arena, bullets also significantly impact your reload time so you can choose low damage constant button mashing fire, or high damage bursts

Thanks!

This is a super solid base that you could definitely expand on, I loved the fluidity of the animations on the lil characters, and the reload mechanic was super unique and felt snappy and good. I actually went in a similar direction with my game but went the FPS route! Super amazing work here man, 5 stars!

Really cool concept! It'd be great if you expanded the spinner system to get different upgrades or something so you could customize your build, or even if you had to manage multiple patients/wheels at once! Great job!

getting a "couldn't load data" error, let me know if you get it fixed so I can play it!

love the propellor hat and the sound it made!

I reach the top of the spinner!

Great stuff! Love the classic intro cutscene and the swingy sword

Getting a "couldn't load project data" error when I try to start it up, ping me when you get it fixed because I wanna try it!

Really liked the concept of this one, a beyblade style planet battler is really cool!

I'm getting a "data folder not found" error, ping me when you get it fixed, I really wanna try it!

"Takes off suit"

Loved the spinny wheel on the shotgun and the announcer voice when you shot a bullet!

I've never used Pico 8 bug looking it up, it says that you can load your p8 cartridge by typing
LOAD yourgamesname.p8
and then do F7 to capture the custom title screen image (it becomes your icon)
then you do the export command
EXPORT yourgamesname.p8

There's probably a good youtube tutorial somewhere but idk
good luck!

Genuinely super fresh and fun! loved all the art and everything about it! Really good take on a survivors-like mashed with an incremental game!

I'm getting a .pck data missing error

hey, could you package this in a .exe format so people can play it? I'm super interested in playin

Loved all the different panels and stuff you could spin! fun take on an idle game!

Pretty good platformer!

Music & Programming by Me

yeah, you’re dead on for the restart button, it was just a thing I forgot to add till the day after deadline, so glad you liked it! The “no time displayed” was a bit more of a conscious decision to keep players focused on the track and looking for new routes and stuff, which is a neat idea to me, but I don’t really know how well it did that, and might need to be changed. Thanks again for playing!

(1 edit)

Hey there! That's a delta time bug, if you restart  the game, it  should work!
(also if you're going the same speed after that, try tapping A and D quickly to gain lots of speed. It's in the tutorial, but I should have made the popups alert you better to new information rather than just changing the text)

(weird ue5.7 bug)

thanks! Yeah I’ve loved seeing all the sledding and snowboarding games, everybody did them so different, but so well!

neat game!

Bro you're not gonna believe this, mine was shark sledding lol! I get what you meant when you said the movement controller was hard to tune, I kept having to work bugs out of mine (though I didn't have to do as much on it since it was just sliding and not skating). Loved the explosions when you ate people! Good stuff! Nice to see another shark-type game out there lol!

Thanks for giving it another go!
