I think you created an ambient horror game by accident

I really loved the intro being comic book style and showing the narrative. The menu and artwork are really charming and promotes a certain style. Even during the gameplay, it reminds me an old school NES game with a specific art style.
My critiques for this one is the audio for the timer is way too loud. It overpowered the music so I wasn't able to properly here what was playing. While simplistic in gameplay, I believe the amount of ghosts, or speed could be toned down a bit. It feels chaotic and doesn't give you enough time to get your bearings.
Overall, this is definitely one of the more unique submissions out there, and I appreciate what it was going for. Nice work!
You guys nailed it with this one! I'm not sure if you and the team are inspired by Behemoth (devs of Castle Crashers, Battleblock Theater), but the style is definitely reminiscent of it. From the men rowing crying, the goofy character selection, even down to the controls being written on a chalk board, this game oozes charm.
The controls are clear, you understand perfectly what you're supposed to do. My only critique, and this is a small one, would be to create a song that's longer than a short loop, but I know this was a timed event, so we have to cut corners somewhere. I also wasn't sure how to load the canon balls, I kept trying to press E near the canon, but nothing happened, so I'm not sure if that needs to be tweaked or maybe some simple text explaining how to use it.
Overall, this is one of my favorite submissions for the Jam.
Nice work guys!
I like the concept of this one! I do think the controls could have been explained a bit better. The wall of the text at the beginning was a bit confusing and I wasn't sure what the items were supposed to do. Some music during the gameplay might've helped, but I know this was a time event, so that's completely understandable. The art work was really well done! It definitely reminds me of old flash games I use to play in the mid 2000's. The biggest plus is it's ordinality, so bravo to that!
I like the idea it's going for, but the art style is pretty all over the place and it's unclear on what you're supposed to do to defeat the kaiju. I do really like the aspect of the kaiju getting bigger, I thought that was pretty neat! But overall, I think the game needs more clarity. Cool theme though!
This game definitely has a lot going for it!
It's definitely reminiscent of old flash games I'd spend my time playing in the mid 2000's on stickpage.com. The animations were well done. I liked the building mechanic and the animation for plugging up holes in the ship. The music was definitely fitting as well, had a really charming vibe. I do feel l like I died relatively quick, but that could just be chalked up to skill issue.
Overall, very well done!
