Cheers! 🦆 Mallard was made in just a couple days so it was kinda all we had time for. Glad you liked it anyway :)

Hey, thanks a lot Hayden for your kind words. Under the circumstances (having more or less just a day to put this together) I'm happy with how it turned out. I did have a somewhat grander vision, where the reveal would unravel more gradually, and the proc-gen plot and gameplay would be a bit more advanced. But your review made me more satisfied with the end result and put a smile on my lips. Cheers!
I agree in your conclusion that fetishising depression can be dangerous, that's one of the way it sticks to you and perpetuates its own existance. Especially the emo wallowing in suicidal teenage thoughts . But I don't see how a game only depressed people (and people that have been depressed) can relate to would necessarily be a bad thing, not for the developer or the player. Feelings and expression is subjective, and you might just lack the tools to communicate some stuff in a tangible manner. I find it hard to blame someone for doing it their way. If indeed the game was a way for the developer to express themselves, couldn't that be enough? Couldn't that be therapeutic in itself? Does it need to be anything else, or really beneficial for anyone else?
All that said I personally prefer when meaning is expressed within structure, or even derived from it. Meaninglessness can be a powerful tool to create meaning but without a point it's pointless. Judging from your review I'm guess it's more the latter. Then again I haven't played the game and I probably never will because I'm a dick
your request is... unusual. not for ages have we been asked to lower our bits to that archaic, most foul level
the council has been summoned. the bananas have been prepared. we will perform that forbidden ritual once the cursed stars of the ape god align
and maybe, just maybe . . .
i had a long discussion with my lawyers regarding the legality of remixing a SNES game but basically decided i can take Nintendo's strike team out utilizing gorilla tactics as long as i've stretched and they have the wind to their back.
i think you need to ponder less the size of packages. it really doesn't matter as long as it's yours and you keep it trimmed. better a big story idea crammed into something too small than ten in the jungle.
oh and thanks for introducing me to my namesake the furry artist to whom i definitely bear no semblance to now, in the past, or in the future past b-baka
the world keeps turning. in the funky end, a gorilla wearing sunglasses is leaning on a surfboard, beckoning us with a wide smile to take his hand and ride the waves to the greatest unknown 🤙🏾
Would it be possible to create an exporter for this, i.e. for use in a game? Could be cool for something like a game jam to have this quickly build a city layout. 2D games could use just the vertices as-is or a 3D game could use it with some basic mesh generation.
also congrats on getting the exclusive super secret ending where the carefully designed fundamentally broken experience is somehow even more broken by not even existing!!

i think a lot of things we just need to figure out ourselves you know like we all as individuals need to ask ourselves, who are we really? why are we? what is art? what is the meaning of life? is there a god? do video game gorillas go to heaven? what is this game? if we die and forget our lives, have we ever really lived? do android monkeys dream of electric banana bands? i think in the end we just need to find OUR truth you know? good luck on your journey frie
unfortunately a thousand monkeys for a thousand years can only manage a finite amount of polish. we regret that we released the game in an unsatisfactory state and a crack team of another thousand monkeys are working around the clock to fix any and all bugs, glitches, and rips in the space-time continuum
