Game looks much better now, and I no longer get permanently stuck on objects constantly which is great. I've encountered a bug in which after pressing tab while trying to interact with something, you'll be unable to interact with items/doors and are softlocked. I believe this is due to not being able to interact with things while in the inventory being carried over outside of it.
A few other things:
You can reload without the gun, which just wastes ammo
When starting a new game, the player is thrown into complete darkness from the loading screen, this could confuse them into thinking the loading screen hasn't ended. You should add either some light to indicate that they're no longer in a loading screen, or a prompt that appears reminding them of the flashlight.
The pause menu doesn't pause the game
Add an indicator you can search the trash can for the key in that one room
Since the player has infinite stamina and can easily outpace enemies, there's not much incentive to fight them as opposed to just running past.
When reloading a save, some rooms seem to relock themselves, which is a problem when you're backtracking to get the code numbers and the entire third floor
I did it! Sorry you had to yellow-paint the last few puzzles I was stuck on. But I finally got the last two I needed. I must say, that ending was something. Not good, not bad, just something. I liked the art gallery, nice little view into all the inspirations. The boss fight was kinda confusing, but otherwise enjoyable. The ending just had me thinking "what the hell am i playing" in a good way the whole time.
Charming little game, if you ever need some more feedback/playtesting on any of your projects, you know who to call. Excited to see what you'll cook up next
I like the update, the flower count on each level was a smart addition, as with the hints, though they are worded a bit strangely. And I like the additions to the Layer 3 level.
Speaking of which, I've encountered a bug that's preventing from me progressing in that level. In the 2D part of it after pressing the button, I go to the weird thing and activate it and after that it just took me to a black screen? I think it's supposed to load a new level but it's just complete darkness for some reason, and if you walk around in the dark level long enough it just takes you back to the eyeball platformer room from earlier.
Also, this could be a fault on my part but I cannot for the life of me find this computer town the hint talked about. Does the mall level have two flowers instead of one? Because it says I'm missing one despite grabbing the one in the dark floating city level you get through via the mall level.
Btw you should clarify you can hammer jump on the floating eyeballs in the new level, because when I died them I think "Oh, i should stay away from those" and then spend the next 10 minutes trying to make an impossible jump.
Other than that, the changes made were pretty good, would love to see what you'll make next.
Endless mode is fun, game is a bit jank though. The balls shot by the gun follow the camera for some reason. The collision in the play area level on layer 1 is really bad and you'll constantly get stuck in walls if you brush up against them the wrong way. I couldn't progress to layer 2 for a bit even though I got all the flowers. I later went back through the levels and went through the happy face doors and that seemed to make the stairs appear. The atmosphere and vibes are really neat, really nails the abstract environment. The chase scene in the ballpit was probably my favorite part. Currently, I'm on 15/17 flowers and I beat all the levels but I can't seem to find the last two, if you could give me a hint that'd be great.
Cool game, strange vibes, could do with some extra polish and juice in some areas but otherwise a decent little exploration game.
Ok here's my review
The game's got a lot of flaws, but a lot of potential too. The atmosphere is great, it really nails the spooky retro vibes. On the other hand, pretty much nothing is communicated to the player in game. Yeah there is the manual image but the tutorial should be in-game. I had to use the axe for the majority of the game because it was just never told to me how to equip the pistol at all, and I only learned you could save at mirrors by clicking on one by accident. Also, I was forced to restart several times because the player's collision is really weird and it's really easy to get yourself stuck everywhere. In between the vending machine and the wall, two piece of furniture, trying to walk on the ramps on the rooftops at the wrong angle will make you have to reset.
Overall, it was a nice experience, but it has a lot of issues that will drive players away. Communicate instructions/controls more clearly, fix the player collision so you don't softlocked every 15 minutes, and add more polish in general and this game will look a lot better.
