The visually pleasing experience really stood out — I like how well the 2D pixel art works together with the simple 3D models. I had a really hard time with the controls, and most of the time I had to guess whether I was giving the correct input for my action, so it would be good to make them more responsive in the future.
Regarding the gameplay, I’m really glad that the defense mechanic actually works, because on Igor’s stream I thought it was just a mockup. I think the game needs more possible actions, because right now it feels very limited: underground it’s mostly just mining, and above ground it’s one floor for defense and one floor for the tavern.
Maybe adding the possibility to create custom tower shapes and allowing them to collapse would be an interesting design choice. The underground area could also have tunnel collapses caused by poor expansion tactics or random events. 🙂
