This was my first Game Jam too, and I had a game idea exactly like yours. I also use Godot; it's a really great game engine. I also wasn't able to make my own game, but I learned a lot from this experience. I hope you learn a lot too.

Interesting game. I love that when the ship is near a planet, it orbits it, a very cool detail.
