Got the last boss to around 10%, but gave up at that point. Here's some tips for anyone else trying this:

  • Press "P" to go to the pause menu (with shop)
  • Press "Tab" to interact with the shop.
  • Press "F" to attack (extremely short range).
  • Grind levels 2+3 (killing slugs) for money. Only buy the triple jump. ("Shift" to dash if you do buy it)
  • Spawned enemies stay there when you die.
  • At the final boss, press P and Quit after each loss to reset the enemies. Don't bother fighting anything other than the more wiggly worms that follow you, and maybe the basic slugs if the numbers are getting out of hand. Touching the boss's blade at all is an instant death. It seems like spamming attack does more damage, but hard to tell because its health pool is massive. You can hit it anywhere in its circle.

Fun, reasonably difficult puzzles

Took a minute to figure out how to play, but an enjoyable game

Hard to control (maybe a smooth acceleration?), but fun concept and really good presentation

Why thank you s9pp75v.png (176×186) (imgur.com)

The second digit for each square is a color code, there was a palette of colors on the right side of the creator. It was supposed to show that final color image on the main menu when solved. It worked, but I thought it was really ugly so I just made everything monochrome in the end, and everything is coded as the default 0 black/grey. Technically each square is still tracking its proper color if you were to manually change the string, but it won't display it.

Bonus puzzle (use the "Custom" button the main menu, then paste this code in): 161600101010101000100010101000100000001000100010000000100010000000000010000000100010001000100010000000100000001000100010001000100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000010001010100010101010100000000000100010001000100010001000000010001000101010001000000010000000101010000000100010000000100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

I compiled it for you.

Downloadable exe: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WSXw-GZAC9tcj2nD1UUY1oAYR1ipMqQc/view

HTML5 (play in browser): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1E9MLNPUHSiGuz_E-_ZDXguRmvVypiKyV/view

You can upload these zips for the project if you like so people can play.

To package this as a game people can play, in GMS2 go to Build > Create Executable > Package as Zip, then upload that zip here.

Unable to start. "Data folder not found. There should be 'Limit Game Jam_Data' folder next to the executable"

The game works perfectly fine for me on my Windows machine, using the Windows version of the download.

If you want to use it, there's a cheat for it. Type in "ryan" (without quotes) at any time in game, and you can change characters at will with Shift.

Looks like that fixed the problem I was having. I still had an issue where I couldn't place blocks on level 1 after beating 2 and 3 on level selection, but I was able to beat it in the end.

I love the idea, but I couldn't progress because the level timer and block placement mode would freeze up every level and I had to redownload it.
