Wow, this works perfectly! Thank you for taking the time to look into this - I really do appreciate it!

I'm so honored to hear you're still thinking of my game! I don't remember if I had it up and running last time we spoke, but if not...Chapter 1 is available on Steam now! It's the same thing that's here on itch, but may be more accessible for you there. It's still free there too which is a plus! Chapter 2 will be there once it's complete, but it's still cooking for now - although I'm halfway done!!! :-)
Sorry for the slow reply! The code you've created is completely untouched - I reverted all the changes after messing around (even replaced the 01_virtual_cursor.rpy file with an untouched version just to make extra sure). The place I'm seeing this behavior in-game is during an investigation segment which uses image buttons inside a screen. This code is in screens.rpy and it looks like this:
I'll then call the screen in-game and use a series of labels to jump to each event like this...which I'm just now realizing is exactly my problem!!! When the event jumps back to the broom_nav label, the screen is called again, resetting the position of the cursor.

Clearly there's a better way to code this that I didn't come up with the first time around (I'm self taught okay...) so I'll look into that! If you have any pointers you'd like to share, I'd really appreciate it. Otherwise, no pressure! You've helped me enough by making the perfect expansion :-)
Hi! First, I'd like to say your expansion is incredible! It's exactly what I needed, so thank you :-) Second, I had a quick question about the virtual cursor. I may be overlooking something obvious (if so, my bad!!!), but I'd like the cursor to 'remember' its position if that makes sense. Rather than return to its predetermined position after pressing a button, I'd like it to stay put - basically updating its position to wherever the player pressed. I played around with the code for a little while but I can't seem to figure it out! Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for the help!
Chapter 1 is out and FREE TO PLAY!
Divine Omen is a dark fantasy/horror visual novel with a little added flair - it features hundreds of hand-drawn characters and environments, dozens of fully CG scenes, important choices to make, point-and-click gameplay elements, a journal that remembers your choices and holds valuable lore, and a story that keeps you guessing.
Chapter 1 is just the beginning of Avan's story. With five parts planned, there's still plenty to see. Guide Avan through a dark and beautiful world as he works with his companions to uncover the truth about what happened to the young girl the city guard found in the woods. You'll soon find out that the answer is more sinister than either of you could have anticipated.
Find it on itch.io by clicking here or find my socials and the Steam page here (Linktree)!
You make a really great point! You see a lot of games and even movies and shows that delve into the darkest, goriest themes but they're terrified of showing a normal relationship in the middle of it all. Oftentimes, especially in the US where I'm from, we have no issue showing excessive violence onscreen but romance is much, much more heavily censored...it never made much sense to me. I'll definitely keep that in mind as I approach the later chapters in the game and explore Robin and Avan's relationship a little deeper!
Thanks as always for the nice comment! You never know what will happen to poor Avan next...but maybe, just maybe...he will get a little romance ;-) And by no means am I trying to advertise on your comment, but you had expressed interest in this before so I am happy to let you know the Steam page for the game is officially up! The demo page will also be up shortly, within the next day if all goes well. Here's the link:

It's finally time...the demo for my game, Divine Omen, is out right here on itch.io! Divine Omen is a dark fantasy horror game where you take on the role of Avan, a young doctor haunted by his past mistakes. When the body of a young child is found outside of town under mysterious circumsances, Avan is called upon to investigate. In a bid to ease his guilty conscience and prove to the world he's not the monster they believe him to be, he vows to solve the mystery and bring the killer to justice. When a strange message comes to him in a dream, he begins to realize the truth is darker than he ever imagined.
This is a story-based game made in Ren'Py, a visual novel engine. Alongside interacting with the characters and making decisions on Avan's behalf, you utilize point-and-click gameplay to explore the world and uncover its secrets. Avan will note these secrets in his journal, a helpful tool that holds information about the world, its people, a number of hand-drawn illustrations, and the story so far.
This demo will take roughly 45 minutes to complete. If you play and enjoy it, please leave a nice comment! It helps and it makes me happy :-) I'm working on this project all by myself, and so far I've done everything on my own save for the sound effects and music (which I'm getting around to, but I'm an artist, not a musician!). Find the game here!
As always, thank you for the support. ♥
